Llano Slab

Low water crossing on the Llano River popular with swimmers.

Reviewed By WisTraveler09too - USA

I have visited mostly highway sections and attractions of the Marble Falls/Kingsland/Llano areas all my life, and this is the first time hearing about The Slab. From the photos, it looks like most creek beds in dry times, but this must be a huge one. Can someone explain if it's right in Kingsland? We were near Kingsland this weekend, in the gorgeous Inks Lake Park and Longhorn Caverns, and this info is mainly regarding this visit 3/18/17. Wildflowers were nice, but should be in full bloom in a week or so.
Incidentally, after reading several review regarding trash: all visitors should leave all areas of TX the way they found it or better, and never, ever toss anything out your car window. And when pets are walked, please pick up after them (most efficient is a baggie. Turn it inside out, insert hand, grab poop, then pull so that the poop is inside, and your hand is outside, clean as a whistle. Zip up the poop, discard properly, and DO use your hand cleaner before eating or shaking anyone's hand. LOL!).

We got the chance to climb the observation tower and walk the trails before the tour - fun and kid friendly, and even the longest hiking path didn’t take more than 40 minutes all told. The cave tour was extensive and featured a lot more history and diverse geology than we were expecting - very much worth the time and price of admission. They have food and snacks for sale at the ticket counter, as well as a gift shop. Definitely recommend!

Very large main building with lots of large tables. Staff is attentive and informative. Tastings are $15 for 6 different varietals. Good selection of wine - generally found tastings flavorful but not especially notable. Very comfortable place to bring your own picnic lunch and relax. They had a person playing country music and singing to add to the ambiance.

Really enjoyed playing on this course. It was scenic, there were great granite outcroppings and ridge views, and it was fun. It wasn't super long, and was challenging enough without being frustraiting. After getting beat up at Horseshoe Bay it was a very nice course to play. Course was in good shape, not too busy, and good deals on Golf Now.

Sweet Berry Farm

Reviewed By Lisa2017Stockton - Round Rock, Texas

My family discovered this farm a few years ago and it is one of our favorite places to visit. You can check on their website for weather updates, picking conditions and they keep you very informed of what is going on their Facebook page. In the spring they are open to pick strawberries, blackberries, onions, potatoes and peaches. Then in the fall you can pick your own pumpkins. It is so much fun to take the kids out there and let them hunt for their own strawberries and pumpkins. They have some delicious snacks too (strawberry popsicles and ice cream!). There are benches to have a picnic at if you want. There are goats and horses to pet, in the fall you can ride on the horses.

They have different activities you can pay for so you can do as much or as little as you want. In the spring they have - Sand Art, ride the barrel train and paint-a-pot.

In the fall there are - Hayrides, candy corn kid maze, pumpkin painting, scarecrow stuffing, face painting, pick your own flowers, sand art, barrel train ride, berry bounce and the Texas Maze. That maze is huge! It is shaped like the state of Texas. Last year you got a punch card and had to find different stations throughout the maze to hole punch.

There are so many great photo opportunities during both seasons. It is a great way to spend the day. I highly recommend visiting in both the spring and fall. I can't say enough good things about this farm.
