The church lies up a hill in a very nice area, between impressive buildings and green parks. Nice walk up. It somewhat seems a little out of place and rather surreal with it's blue, white and gold splendour but truely worth seeing.

If you want to escape the crowds this park is for you.I am not sure if the rule applied in summer months but during winter this park is almost deserted. There is a statue of Antonin Dvorak, famous Czech composer there and the Park Colonnade is on the edge of the park.

Take the funicular from Colonnade street to get direct to this beautiful place incl. best famous look-out tower, 100 y. old restaurant, forest Terrace, butterfly house and mini-zoo. Only in restaurant Diana you can eat surrounded by spa Forests while watching our peacocks. From the look-out tower Diana you can take perfect photos of whole Karlovy Vary and surroundings. The butterfly house is a perfect goal of your trip in all weathers. On winter warm up by large fireplace in our historical restaurant, on summer surely use walking paths through the spa Forests which starts right from our place. Visiting the "Tourist area Diana" will be nice and relaxing part of your trip to Karlovy Vary and you can come all year long. Who has not been at the Diana Observation Tower, has not seen Karlovy Vary!

When I arrived to Karlovy Vary I immediately fell in love with how gorgeous this town was!, small but perfect, I walked and walked from the bus station to the center of the city and I just couldn't take how clean and beautiful it was! When I arrived at my hotel I couldn't just stay there, I walked some more and it was perfect! Great restaurants, people were very friendly and I loved the Christal work they do there! it's simply amazing! I loved it!
Its not a party town, its more relaxed, I went there by myself and I loved my me time, just walking and breathing fresh air!

A bit off the tourist route you will find Soos, a National Nature Reserve in the Czech Republic.
Coming from Saxony into the Czech Republic make your way towards Marianske Lazne. Once you passed Frantiskovy Lazne (go left to Marianske Lazne and Cheb, not into the town of FL) you will see a small sign (Was it brown or red? Cannot remember) that shows the way to Soos.
There is a car park and a museum and of course a board walk through the nature reserve (also a mini zoo). Inside the museum you can purchase the ticket for the attractions which we didnt know. So we walked there for free. Was not clearly said we needed to pay.
The nature reserve is really interesting as you can see some kind of "volcanic" action (no hot Springs but bubbly Springs with gas in it as much as we understood - so it is safe for kids we assume) or you can just enjoy the beautiful nature along the board walk. We turned around after a while as some locals told us when you continue walking until the end of the board walk you need to walk back on the street. So we took the boardwalk back to the car park. Really enjoyed it!

Loket Castle is one of the oldest Castles in the Czech Republic. It was built at the beginning of the 13th century. Soon after the castle was built a small town arose below it. This castle is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Region of Karlovy Var nowadays. No wonder! Over two and a half centuries ago, Goethe had written: "The beauty of Loket Castle is indescribable. It resembles a work of art that we can admire from all sides."
The castle was a strategic defence point for centuries. It also served as a temporary residence for members of the royal family. Today there are several Exhibitions in the castle including an exhibition of porcelain and weapons, an archaeology exhibition (incl. unique murals) and also in the castle prison and the dungeon an exhibition of extensive torture chambers with figures with agonised expressions and plaques with horrible descriptions next to each cell. In addition to the latter, there were sound effects reproducing the screams of tortured people. This dungeon section is definitely not for everyone as it is very realistic and it can be very disturbing. So it is better to avoid it if you are faint hearted. I wouldn't take any children there. We saw children crying and fleeing from there. We also saw one who was sick.
To summarize:
Amazing place in an awesome location with many different Exhibitions and one of the few sites where you can go without a guide. You will need a few hours to see everything. The town itself is also very beautiful. Really worthy to visit!
PS. Loket, city and castle were both used as a location for the James Bond movie "Casino Royale". However it was pretending to be a resort town in Montenegro.
