Flinders Chase National Park

Western end of Kangaroo Island features magnificent coastal landscapes coupled with vast wilderness areas and diverse wildlife. Flinders Chase National Park is the home of the iconic Admiral's Arch with its colony of New Zealand fur seals and the truly Remarkable Rocks. Open every day except Christmas day.

This NP has a lot of variety & heaps to offer from walking trails to spectacular scenery to a multitude of wildlife encounters. You have Cape Borda Lighthouse on the NW Coast, Cape du Couedic Lighthouse on the SW Coast, the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, Rocky River, Snake Lagoon & many wilderness trails to explore. Sadly our visit was cut short by extreme weather conditions which led to the NP being closed for safety sake. Will be back to finish our exploration for sure, just hope the dirt tracks have been graded recently !

absolutley beautiful natural wonder, full of amazing stinky local wildlife. the sea was so rough it was a spectacular site. if driving back in the dark or near dusk be aware of the abundance of nocturnal life that will be darting about the road. best to go in the day time unless you want a very slow and sometimes stressful drive home avoiding all the little critters.

We have regularly visited Kangaroo Island over the past 8 years and each time we call in at Fine Art Kangaroo Island. Fred, the owner, always gives a warm welcome and has a great variety of jewellery, sculptures and paintings, virtually all of which are produced on KI. If you visit Kingscote then I’d recommend calling in to view the latest pieces and have a chat with Fred.

On a drive out to Cape Willoughtby Lighthouse Saturday, we stopped in for lunch at Dudley Wines Cellar Door on the way back(only about 10 mins drive out of Penneshaw, and, Wow, Wow, Wow , walking out to sit on a beautiful big deck to indulge of this Wow factor view. We ordered two tasting paddles of their wines, and a tasting plate of fresh and delicious local produce. Very nice wines, especially the premium reds (on the $15 paddle) and the food complemented perfectly. Great friendly and knowledgeable service as well. Well worth a hop into on Kangaroo Island. Little Sahara

Little Sahara is a system of naturally occurring coastal blowout dunes located on the south coast of Kangaroo Island. Formed over the last 7000 years as a result of storms and erosion after a major fire, the sand dunes of Little Sahara covers approximately two square kilometers in the gazetted locality of Vivonne Bay and vary in size from approximately 70 meters above sea level. To ensure it’s preservation for future generations, Little Sahara has been heritage listed since the 1970’s and the property is privately owned. Best beer I’ve had in Australia. The pale and amber are perfect for a chill island day, the staff is knowledgeable and down to earth, and the space is beautiful and all built by the brewer Mike. Staying true to the roots of craft brewing, Mike is doing an awesome job with simple yet creative brews. This is where I want to spend my days on Kangaroo Island ????

The honey farm is worth the drive through the beautiful canola fields alone. Greeted with friendly service and more info on the local unique Ligurian bees than I could take in. Amazing to see the bees in action too. Great local products on sale.
