Lajinha Park

Reviewed By Rechinout - Newark-on-Trent, United Kingdom

I walked around the lake of Lajinha Park with a beautiful lady that complimented the attractive surroundings. It is a pleasant park where children can play and it is a good place to have a picnic. Whilst there I noticed the bandstand was being used as a focal point for what looked like a birthday celebration. There are two old trams that are fenced off which is such a shame as these could be a good attraction. Walking around the lake I noticed an open Termite mound which was interesting to see inside. There was a small waterfall as well. The walk around the lake was not long and did not take very long but it was most scenic.

Also known as Morro do Cristo, provides a great view from atop the city. However, the place lacks tourism structure, and should not be regarded as an attraction where one might stay for anything longer than just a few minutes. Still, I consider it to be the top (no pun intended) attraction in the city.

Just what you would expect from an urban shopping mal. It has two semi-circular levels and plenty of paid parking. The stores are mainly well-known higher-end franchises that sell clothing, appliances, towels and linen, etc. Two department stores (mainly for clothes) are also located here.. There is a large food court with several fast food franchises and a couple of better restaurants as well as kiosks for snacks throuhout the mal.. Moviegoers will find a cinema complex, providing many film choices, and there are a few banks and travel agencies too. Easily accessible by bus from downtown.

The park is excellent for a couple of hours of relaxation. The museum, however, has been closed for years for "renovation." This is a very important, albeit small, museum and it is a shame that the public cannot access it.
