Mehrangarh Fort

This was the first museum that reminded us of "western" style museums- the plaques were very informative, it had a kids section in the art room, it provided excellent explanations of the typical mawar art, very interesting exhibits on the carriages carried by men and those on elephants, etc. The fort itself is interesting as it is a combination of different time periods, the view of the blue roof tops of the city is amazing, but the best part about this is the organization and information provided in the museum part. Loved it!

We couldn't have asked for a nicer experience from Vijay & his colleague Sharokh earlier today. They were welcoming, friendly and attentive, however not overbearing. They were warm, with excellent knowledge, skill & interest in their passion, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. I wouldn't say this was an art 'lesson' as such, however a low pressure way to learn some skills & you get your own work as a keep sake. There was no pressure to purchase anything on offer, which we have felt often to be the case - though the selection was incredible, and because of Vijay not accepting any donations for his time & knowledge, we were much more inclined to part with some rupees for a piece to take home! Sherokh was even kind enough to direct us later to the market & then pointed us in the direction of somewhere which delivered a really excellent Tali! I couldn't recommend more - though I think we may need a little more practice with our painting.

Rao Jodha Desert Rock Park

This rock park, which includes the beautiful and peaceful Devkund Lake filled with water birds, is well worth a visit. The 70 hectare park has been lovingly restored by the Trust which runs it. Invasive species have been removed and native plants added to improve biodiversity. We spent a wonderful two hours with Denzel Britto, our very knowledgeable and friendly ecologist guide, learning about the restoration of the park and about its ecology and wildlife. This is a real gem and the guide provides invaluable information about Rajasthan's ecology and wildlife.
Highly recommended!!!

Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum

Reviewed By gurvinder2015 - Bathinda, India

One of most famous tourist spot in Jodhpur displaying royalty and royal lifestyle, but offers very little for tourist as most of the part is commercialized and converted into a hotel and barricaded for common visitors. At the entrance guides will lure you to accompany, my suggestion is guides are not required if you want to really understand and enjoy as they cover the things and move very fast. Its a small places with written information available so one can enjoy on his own.

Jain Mahavira Temple

Reviewed By Anand G - Kochi (Cochin), India

It is a typical Jain Temple with marble, marble and marble everywhere. However, the number of statues of the various Thirthankaras make it unique. Of course, the architecture is superb. The ornate roofs are genuine stunners. Worth the visit if you are in Jodhpur.
