Our kids were attending the baseball camp so it gives us an opportunity to spend some time in the museum. A meaningful tribute to one of the longest running youth sports organizations. It gives you a great taste of history, of sport and the bigger picture of why kids compete. Lots of emotional pieces in the museum. It doesn't take long to get through so enjoy every part of it.

A lovely area of Pennsylvania in the Little Grand Canyon area of Pennsylvania. Great hiking trails in the area. Hiked the Black Walnut Bottom trail to Tomb Flats and came upon an old cemetery. Also spotted a black rattlesnake by the tombstones. Be cautious if entering this area. Wonderful area to take your family and bike or hike.

We drove to Williamsport to see the museums exhibit on 'mourning and death practices in the Victorian period.' It definitely didn't disappoint. The exhibit was well laid out (sorry bad pun) and the items were some that I had never seen before. The museum also had a great train display as well as history of Lycoming County and other history of the area. Put on your walking shoes- there is a lot to see. There are also hands on activities for the kids!

Enjoy the Phillies Class A Williamsport Crosscutters in the historic setting of Bowman Field!

I was very excited to try a new (old) ballpark at Bowman Field.
I liked the charming old field, but underwhelmed by the poor customer service.
The ticket director wouldn't allow my friends to shop (five hours) before game time (most minor league teams LOVE to sell stuff in down hours,it's free money),got angry when the GM overruled him (to make close to 100 dollars),then when the gates did open, refused to allow us to leave and then return.
Combined with another employee that refused to let people in areas anywhere near the field and I had the worst customer experience anywhere short of Hagerstown MD.
Neat ballpark,lousy customer service....

Mountain Top Distillery

Reviewed By Scott D - Dickson City, Pennsylvania

Situated on a shaded mountainside is Mountain Top Distillery. It shares the same building as Bastress Mountain Winery and offers a variety of brandy, corn whiskey and moonshine. The distillery is set among the trees with a cool, relaxing covered patio next to a small fish pond. A pleasant place to relax and enjoy.

Due to Pennsylvania law, the arrangements of the distillery and winery are a bit unusual. Since both the winery and distillery are operated seperatly with the winery is housed in the gift shop and the distillery is just a small corner bar in the rental hall. You cannot use the hall connecting the two and must go out and walk to the other entrance when going from wine to spirits and vice-versa. Because of the distillery's location (tasting in the corner of an empty hall) is why I rate this a 3 instead of the 4 I give the winery.

Easy to find with GPS. Ample clean and safe parking lot. Just go into the little building to purchase your tickets. The same building sells lunch items, beverages and ice cream. There are a few tables and chairs outside to eat at with a great view of the river and riverboat. There are additional benches along the river. The ticket building also sells souvenir items at reasonable prices.
When you board the boat you can sit either in the open upstairs area where you can hear about the history from the speakers, or in the enclosed first level where you can watch and hear from a large screen what transpired in Williamsport over the years. My suggestion is to sit inside to watch the photos as there are some good historical ones and then after the film is over head upstairs or outside front to watch the river.
There is a bar on board with some creative mixed drinks like Shipwreck which was really good. You can also purchase hot dogs and other munchies. There are tables and chairs upstairs and down. Make sure you look at the rear paddles work their magic. The best place overall for scenic viewing is standing in the front of the boat. We went by little islands, saw water fowl, houses on sticks up high and camp grounds. The water appeared to be nice and clean. The breeze felt good. Bring a blanket or wear a coat in cooler weather.
They do specialty cruises as well. I'd like to go back for their murder mystery cruise. Or come back before they close for the winter to see the leaves when they've changed color.
The only negatives is that sometimes it is hard to hear the speaker if a lot of people are talking during it.

Whenever we travel we like to visit local wineries. This one was very nice. Most of the wines were a little sweet for my taste. Next door they have a distillery and everything was really good. It is a family run establishment and the young man who waited on us was very friendly and a lot of fun. Definitely recommend.
