Upul had been recommended to us by a couple who we met in Tanzania. We have traveled extensively and usually book our long haul travels through a specialised tour operator in the UK but we wanted to try something different. I contacted Upal via email explaining our interests, where we would like visit and that would prefer using local guest houses and we particularly wanted to visit the north and Jaffna, I also asked him to include any other areas of interest that I may have omitted. We quickly agreed a 2 week tour beginning and ending in Colombo, then we decided to add a week on the coast for some down time which meant Upul needed to amend the itinerary, which he did without any fuss.
We were met at the Airport by Upul and we commenced our tour and what a great 2 weeks it was, we could not have asked for a better guide. He was extremely informative covering the vast history, culture and religious aspects of his country and he just drip fed us the background of the places we were visiting as we drove along rather than just bombard is with endless facts and figures. At Ella we met some other clients of his who were travelling in the reverse direction and they suggested a couple of places / experiences to try and after speaking to Upul after a couple of phone calls he amended our itinerary to accommodate our request. We were very impressed on his flexibility towards the tour. We only had bad hotel and Upul was not convinced we should stay for the 3 scheduled nights so between us we identified an alternative and he made all the arrangements for us to move. He knew I was a keen photographer and was always willing to stop for photos and if I told him the type photo I was looking for he identified a suitable place /location for it. At the end of each day he summarised what he had planned for the next day to ensure we we're happy.
It was a superb tour, well organised and conducted at a steady pace so we saw everything and more we wanted to. I would not hesitate to recommend his services to our friends.

Just returned from 14 days with Amila and SLD. We had an ambitious tour program, which after researching thoroughly online beforehand, knew would only be possible with the help of a driver. As seasoned backpackers, it was a bit of an adjustment for us to have a driver and make plans for the entire trip (having previously travelled largely off the cuff), but in a limited two week period we didn't have the luxury of making it up as we went along. Amila was our driver and from beginning to end he was polite, funny, friendly and helpful. Whilst we'd researched quite a bit beforehand, Amila helped us significantly with local knowledge, organising our train tickets ahead of time (very important during peak season), guiding us up Mountains (we never expected him to do this, but it was greatly appreciated) and navigating questionable roads to find our off the beaten path accommodation (other guests told us about how angry their drivers were about the bad roads, yet Amila did it all with a smile and a laugh). At all times Amila took great care to ensure we were safe, comfortable and happy - even contacting us at the airport to make sure we were able to board our plane and then once more to make sure we'd safely arrived home. His car was always spotlessly clean at the beginning of the day, despite the mess we'd left it in the day before.

We recently had a one week tour of Sri Lanka with Shalinda. Shalinda was very helpful and always punctual. We told him what we wanted to do each day (we’d also provided an overall itinerary when booking) and he made everything work seamlessly. He also organised some activities, such as a village tour in Sigiriya, and a spice garden visit, which we hadn’t thought of. He made it easy to get tickets at various locations, and showed us the best order to visit the bigger sites. He was a very safe and careful driver and the car was always clean and tidy for us. We visited the Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Minneriya National Park and Dambulla), followed by Kandy and then tea country (Nuwara Eliya), before returning to Colombo for a final night and this itinerary worked well.

Where do I even start!?
When we first arrived in Sri Lanka, Anton was waiting for us with a smile on his face. He was very professional and accommodating from the offset. He was extremely well organised and had planned our week out well. His knowledge of Sri-Lanka is outstanding and because of this we learnt a lot about the island as the week went by. We had never had a driver on a holiday before, but we have heard stories of how some drivers in Sri Lanka can be quite minimalistic in what they offer i.e. they just drive you to and from your destination. One thing that we noticed with Anton quite quickly is that he is extremely friendly and because of this, as the week went by he quickly became more than a driver to us and like a friend. We enjoyed being in his company and spent lots of time with him outside of the 'driving' work. He walked through the woods with us and we all spent the afternoon at nine-arch bridge. We had so much fun, laughing and telling jokes. We even taught Anton a little bit about sarcasm which was a very new concept to him - it was great by the end of the week where we all felt comfortable enough to be sarcastic around one another, like friends.
Anton could never do enough for us. If it was raining, he would come out in the night and bring us an umbrella just so as we didn't get wet on our way to a restaurant. He recommended things to us as we went by them during our trips but was never pushy in anything he suggested. He knew the kinds of things that we were looking to do and tailored his ideas to us based on that. Never did we feel that he wanted us to do anything that have an amazing holiday.
It was sad when we departed after our first week and although our second week was still amazing, it wasn't the same without Anton. We definitely want to come back and see some more of Sri Lanka and when we decide to do that, we wouldn't even hesitate to book with Anton again. We've recommended him many times to people that we know - it's the easiest five-stars i've ever given. Outstanding!

It was for the first time, we chose a package trip. Was little skeptical about the price while choosing the package. We put a request for quotes via Traveltriangle. Received multiple quotes. After Reading the reviews, we chose Travco. Very much satisfied with their service. They provided a Toyota Prius for the trip and the chauffeur, Ruchira was very friendly and very helpful. Found IPHA Lanka tours by a recommendation from a friend. Anthony (owner) was helpful and knowledgeable when planning our trip. He gave us tips and ideas for a 9 day tour.
Upon arrival Anthony was punctual and picked us up without issues. He had a large comfortable van with plenty of space. Provided water and wifi.
Due to personal reasons, Anthony left us after one day and efficiently organised a second driver Preethi, without any issues. I mention this, as we spent most of our trip with Preethi, and while the planning and organisation of the trip may have been done by Anthony, it was Preethi who made our trip fun and set it apart with his sweet, gentle, friendly manner.
The highlight of this entire trip was the elephant safari that had been organised by Anthony and Preethi. We were taken in a jeep by an experienced local who knew exactly how to avoid crowds and get as close to the elephants as possible.
Another noteworthy point is the wifi that was provided in the car. Being vegetarians, we needed to constantly look for restaurants in towns where we could eat, and ease of internet allowed us to do so. The water was also plentiful such that we never had to purchase a single bottle or worry about dehydrating!
Overall the entire trip was extremely memorable and enjoyable, all thanks to the team of Anthony and Preethi. We always felt safe and comfortable. Couldn't recommend them highly enough.
