Campbell's Covered Bridge

A beautiful spot that is a throwback in time. The only remaining covered bridge in SC, this spot has hiking trails, a babbling creek, the remnants of a historic home site and grist mill and picnic tables. Pack a lunch, bring a camera and learn some history. Just lovely.

Stopped in at RJ Rockers Brewing late in the afternoon to check out the beer selections and the place. Jessica was 'on duty' that day and what a delightful, personable and very knowledable young woman. We talked about the beer offerings on tap that day...MoreMGordon, We agree Jess is awesome! Peachy King is big and is made with 150 pounds of SC peaches in each batch. Food side is open and we hope you make it back to eat soon! thank you for your support. Henry

Cowpens National Battlefield

Reviewed By Daniel S - Germany

The park is located in a beautiful rural area. It's a bit off the main road, but definitely worth your time, especially if you like history.

The National Park Service rangers and the volunteers that run the place were all very friendly, answered all my questions, and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The Visitor Center is small but is PACKED with displays, exhibits and a great movie. It's actually surprising to see how much they fit into a small building!

The gift shop is very small, but has pretty much any souvenir you could want. They of course have the stamp for your National Park Service passport book, though can always stamp just about anything else to remember your visit! In addition to the Cowpens National Battlefield stamp, you can also get the stamp for the Overmountain Victory National History Trail.

This is a wonderful place to get lost in nature. Running/walking trails take you all around the beautiful wooded area, or you can drive the 3-mile "loop" and stop to read all the historical markers and information boards.

Even if you're not interested in Revolutionary War history, this is a place you should visit, for the beauty of the site, and the QUIET that surrounds you when you're there.

Highly recommended.

Links O'Tryon Golf Club

Reviewed By cheryl h - Durham, North Carolina

The course seems pretty plain at first but this golf course is anything but plain – a great Tom Jackson design. A housing development course where after the first hole (my first tee shot was pulled into someone's back yard) the housing is unobtrusive.

It has an outstanding variety of holes, long/short, up/down, straight/right/left, and a few forced water carries into the greens. The check-in process was awesome and the starter and rangers were great.

I of course played the ladies tees but my husband had a little trouble deciding which tees to play; you either have to go with 5500 or 6300 yard tees. They should consider creating hybrid tees such as par 4 holes from the 5500 yard tees and par 3/5 from the longer tees to split the difference. He ended up playing the shorter tees which made a few of the par 4s too short which was better for him than the longer tees which had several par 4s that were 400+ yards.

The bunkers were generally flat bottomed and appear to have recently been replaced. The greens are Zoysia grass; which I have never seen before. They were a bit slow at this time of year but otherwise they were perfect. Not a single ball mark or any imperfections at all.

The range and practice green was nice and the practice bunker/short game area was good but used a common Bermuda green.

Russian Chapel Hills Winery

Our vineyard and winery rest below the beautiful St. Anna Chapel, which is a part of the Eastern Diocese of the Russian Church Outside of Russia. Visitors to Russian Chapel Hills Winery will perhaps be most delighted at being able to visit an authentic, 17th century stile Russian chapel. It is our heritage. You are welcome to discover a new experience in our estate winery.

Arrived right at opening so we had the tasting room to ourselves. This gave us a great opportunity to talk with the owner and learn of his Russian history, the history of the vineyards and the authentic Russian chapel that sits on the property overlooking the sea of grapes. Absolutely breathtaking! 3 big friendly dogs greet you as you drive up. Tasting of 8 wines cost $12. Definitely recommend the Mosaic red blend.

Greer City Park

Reviewed By John H - Greer, South Carolina, United States

I live in Greer and am very proud of this multi functional park. It also contains the City Hall. The pond, gazebo and fountain would be very restful but .... They blast pop music from loudspeakers which just ruins the whole experience. It's like being in some sort of communist re-education camp. It's a shame too because the park is beautiful.

We came here for the Spartanburg County geocaching challenge but immediately were impressed with this large and modern park.

There's lots of things to do for everyone, from disc golf, to organized softball and playgrounds. There is a neat sundial here and exhibits on solar and wind power.

It was very impressive!

Hatcher Garden & Woodland Preserve

Hatcher Garden is a true treasure in Spartanburg, you can take a quiet walk along paved and natural paths or sit and enjoy the trees, flowers, sounds of water and songbirds. We enjoy taking our nephew along and looking at the plaques identifying the trees and shrubs, and we always stop and make a donation in the box on our way out to help support the garden.
