We were newbies at escape rooms. I never even heard of it until I saw it on Trip Advisor the same morning we booked. The staff member was patient with us even though we had no clue what we were doing. The room design was very well done, and the puzzles were very challenging. We didn’t escape successfully, but it was a fun experience. Good way to spend quality time with your teenagers.

The Cathedral is beautiful. Great place to visit and worship. Was able to go to Confession while in town several months ago. The priest homily was great. Highly recommend you go visit and spend some time with God while in town, even in you are not Catholic.

I've been a library kinda guy since I was a little kid. This branch of the Kenton County Public Library is superb. There's tons of free parking, an abundance of staff, copy services, computer access and a plethora of books, videos, and music. I recommend this for doing research online or just plain escaping from the outside world into a book.

Stopped in here while in Cincinnati and it was well worth crossing the river for. This is the largest liquor store in the USA. After a while if you get tired of looking at beer on the shelf you can go to the live brewery and get a pint of freshly made beer. A must see for anyone visiting the Cincinnati and area.

It is also called the Abner Gaines House. The history of this historical house and farm is quite fascinating. You can take a fascinating tour of the house and out buildings. It is very easy to find even thought it is a little bit off the beaten path. It is one of those places that is right in your own neighborhood but you never visit. The City of Walton, KY recently purchased it so that it could be properly maintained. The State of KY recently installed the brown highway signs indicating that the property is now on the State Historical List. The tours are given by docents in period costume. The Gaines Tavern House has various events throughout the year such as vintage car shows, vintage clothing displays, art on the lawn and ice cream socials. I think the tour cost maybe two or three dollars. But you can walk around the grounds for free. Well worth a visit!!

Lincoln Ridge Park

Reviewed By kentuckylongrifle - Independence, Kentucky

The day was overcast and the threat of rain was in the air. Still, at quitting time I grabbed my backpack and headed for Lincoln Ridge Park to get in a few miles of hiking. I’ve been heading there for the last few weeks, with a 30 pound ruck, to prepare for an upcoming section hike of the AT (or RRG) with a coworker. Even though the weather was sketchy, there were many folks out that afternoon enjoying the park.

Located next to the Kenton County Golf Course, the 78 acre park is easy to find. It’s also known to most of the area residents, as the county public works is located just to the left of the entrance and it doubles as the voting polls for elections.

Lincoln Park has always been a favorite our family. Lots of woods, along with trails that meander through them, encircle the park. The park contains two lakes and fishing is permitted with the appropriate state licence. There are two playgrounds, a baseball diamond and soccer fields. The park also accommodates 3 shelter houses which are available to rent through the park office. There are plenty of areas to picnic as well. My favorite place is along the outer-loop trail, but many bring baskets and blankets and dine on the grass. Tables are also available.

Disc golf is the main attraction for the park as it boast a 24 hole course. While I don’t participate, many of my friends and coworkers enjoy the sport and they constantly rave about this course. If you really want a great workout, get there early and walk the 24 hole course. There are lots of elevation changes to get the heart pumping.

The trails are unpaved and rough to some degree. The storms we’ve had recently have washed out a few portions of trail. While still passable, the county has asked those playing frisbee golf to skip 2 of the holes (14 and 15) near the outer trail. Being unpaved, the trails are not handicapped accessible and are muddy after a good rain. They’re usually dry in a day or two, but several areas of the outer loop stay wet longer from the water runoff from the hillsides. The trails are not as clearly marked as they could be, that being said, if you print off a map from the website, you shouldn’t have any issues.

There are 4 trails located within the park that intersect with each other. The outer loop (orange) which runs 1.55 miles and loops around the park. The .44 mile purple trail, which is technically the beginning or the orange trail which splits off from it and it terminates into the red trail. The red trail is a .34 mile loop trail that intersects with both the purple and orange trails. It is located near the northern edge of the park.

The park is surrounded by private property and the outer loop, for the most part, follows the park’s property line. Some areas are posted, so if in doubt, stick to the trail.

Unfortunately, as with most parks these days, you’ll find some trash strewn about including on the trails. While it’s not as bad as some parks, it is a reminder that there are still people who are inconsiderate. So please, pick up your trash. Trash bins are plentiful and located throughout the park. You can even find them on the trails.
The park has two public restrooms. From our experience it’s either hit or miss with the cleanliness. I know they try and take care of them, but if there are multiple parties or a disc golf tourney, the restrooms suffer.

Pets are permitted in the park, just ensure you follow the county's leash law. It’s not an issue here as it is in other parks, but I still run into owners walking unleashed dogs.

We used Lincoln Ridge for parties, picnicking, flying RC planes, running RC cars and model rockets (hint: with all the trees, it’s not the best place to launch model rockets). We also enjoy how quiet it is. There are places on the outer loop where all you can hear is the sound of the creek and the wind in the trees.

This park is a gem for Kenton County.

Florence Freedom

Reviewed By DebErlanger - Erlanger, Kentucky

Going to a Florence Freedom game will demonstrate how baseball became such a popular sport in the U.S. I don't like sitting among the clouds in a big stadium and spending an entire week's worth of spending money on snacks for the family. But minor league baseball is another thing. When you yell at the batter or pitcher, they can hear you -- because you can sit that close. Prices are great, and special evening events have additional deals to enjoy. The management caters to children with activities for them to participate in between innings. Plus there is a large playground for them to enjoy when they've been sitting for too long.

It's great baseball in a great atmosphere at a great price. If you haven't tried it, order tickets now. Or jump in the car; tickets are always available at the gate.
