Huntsville is the fourth-largest city in Alabama, located in the northernmost part of the state. A city with a 200-year Southern heritage, visitors will find activities that celebrate Huntsville’s rich history, as well as attractions that highlight the city’s scientific side. At the Alabama Constitution Village, villagers in period clothing take time from their daily chores to guide you through eight reconstructed Federal style buildings. Younger visitors will love the 150 hands-on activities at the Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center and older kids will learn what it takes to be an astronaut at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Looking for outings with a cultural flair? Landmarks such as the Huntsville Botanical Garden and Huntsville Museum of Art are must sees. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Huntsville to its "America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations for 2010" list.

I didn't think there would be so much military memoribilial! Very well organized! The amout of jeeps and tanks was amazing! The staff was great and very knowledgeable about the displays. I definitely will be going there again! As a member in the military, it was one of the best museums I have ever seen for the military and more people should be going there than the space museum! Great for adults, and children. Even my teenage sister loved it!

Our family has been walking this nature trail for over 20 years. What a wonderful place to just enjoy peace and quiet and a beautiful trail. It has been our pleasure to enjoy for a very long time and what is most important is that it has remained the same for all the years that we have been going there.

Huntsville has a very lovely Garden walk. You can spend a few hours seeing lovely flowers, shrubs, and trees or spend all day studying them. When you get tired and hungry they have a small restaurant with very good food. You can choose a salad, a sandwich, or a meal. I had Shrimp & Grits which was the best I have ever eaten.

Been to the park 3 times for Mountain Mist 50k. The trails are amazing and have something to offer all levels of runner, mountain biker, and hiker from crushed gravel and jeep trails to smooth single track all the way to gnarly rock covered soul crushing climbs and descents with steep switchbacks. Along the way there are amazing views and waterfalls.

Stayed in the cabins twice. They are perfect for a weekend race get away.

The lodge is gigantic and the fireplaces are some of my favorite of all time. They are gigantic and with the fire going they are amazing to look at and perfect to sit at recover from the hard day and warm up.

My brother (seniors) and I spent a couple of hours walking this beautiful FLAT water park located in the middle of Huntsville. The water works are fed by Big Spring, an artesian (I think) well located at the bottom of a nearby bluff, feeding the winding stream and lakes. The lake looks deep and is full of large carp and gold fish. Different species of water foul (ducks) are in residence too. After walking the park, we climbed the steps leading up the bluff and enjoyed he vista from high above the spring and park. There are every imaginable eateries and coffee shops nearby.

This venue is a series of spaces - a theatre, hockey arena, convention center, and is centrally located, easy to find in Huntsville. We went to the Probst Arena for an ice hockey game, and every seat was excellent. We were in the official second tier, in Section 221. Wow! It was only a few rows back from the action, and right in the middle of the field of play. Easy check in. Lots of food, lots of drink vendors, clean bathrooms. What more could you ask for?

As Huntsville continues to expand, it has really done well with Lowe Mill converting it into a artisan haven of all sorts. Having lived in Huntsville three times in my life this last visit was made nicer by seeing what happened to the abandoned textile mill. With over a 100 places to visit, either a sales point or a studio or the theater, you are bound to find something for everyone. My daughter showed me around and it was really nice. Not everyone was open but most were. All types from motorbike art sculpture to jewelry to textiles, paintings, pottery, stained glass and of course the wonderful coffee shop on the third floor.
