Monastery Immaculate conception

Reviewed By Fnpfritz123 - Flora, Indiana

My husband and I love to see churches ano cathedrals when on vacation. We have been to Paris and other large cities of the world. We missed the last guided tour; however, we were directed to the church by a wonderful sister. From the time we opened the door, I was completely awestruck with the beauty of the windows and statues. This is a must see! Will come back with family. The sisters were very informative and answered all questions.

Wonderful old gothic style church. Beautiful pipe organ. Masses can be a bit more traditional- patrons nicely dressed in "Sunday clothes".

Downtown Huntingburg is a neat area. Downtowns are dying out so it is nice to see they are keeping theirs alive. They have some neat little shops and restaurants. I always find something neat at Touch Of Class Outlet.

St. Benedict's Brew Works

Reviewed By Ordeal_seeker - Indiana

St. Benedict's Brew Works is located near the gift shop on the campus of the Sisters of St. Benedict Monastery on the hill in Ferdinand. The brew masters make small batches, so the variety of beers is ever changing. IPAs, browns, darks, Kolschs, and others are available. I like the several that I have tasted. They serve pretzels made by the sisters at their bakery and other simple bar food; they have a big screen tv to watch the big game. They also sell glasses with their nifty "Pray, Work, Brew" logo.

The Brew Works is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Check their website or Facebook page for hours.

And a visit to the beautiful historic convent and church is well worth the trip to Ferdinand.

Dubois County Museum

Reviewed By jgbtravels - Louisville, KY

I really didn't expect to find such a large museum in this size town. There's a bit of everything here. There's even a log cabin that has been rebuilt inside this building that can be used for wedding venues. This place is staffed by friendly volunteers. I even had a volunteer docent who took me around the time I was there- and I was there for over 3 hours. Being a city boy I was learning about some of the farm equipment from my most generous docent. Oh, don't let me scare you in thinking it's all farm stuff- there's much more-really. There is also some Civil War memorabilia for us Civil War buffs. This is a bargain for $5 and there is ample free parking in the back. One more thing, there's a huge model train exhibit in a room to itself. Currently, they are planning to redo the train layout and expect to finish in October.

Dr. Ted's Musical Marvels

Reviewed By Mighty_Road_Warrior - Austin, Texas

Dr. Ted's is a great stop on road trips that include southern Indiana. Unlike many museums where you only get to look at the music making machinery, the docents actually start them up one at a time and let you enjoy the music. They also do a very good job answering questions from everyone, including small children. The condition of the instruments is phenomenal. Clearly, Dr. Ted loves collecting and restoring these old music making machines. It's also super conveniently located practically at the corner of I-64 and US-231.

Sultan's Run Golf Course

Reviewed By Veinleisure

Sultan's Run is a special place with rolling hills, challenging greens, and elevations to navigate as trying to tackle this gem. Having played this venue for many years, I fund the course to be in the best shape ever. A little course knowledge goes a long way, yet even a first timer will appreciate the beauty and challenge this track offers. As it pertains to the Indiana Baseball HOF event, the banquet facility and staff are always pleasant and spacious. Thanks Sultan's Run!

Jasper City Mill

Reviewed By Patricia N - Plymouth

Hubby and I had couple of hours to check out some local sights. Although mill is interesting could not get close due to some construction activity. Store had very little to look at and shopkeeper was not forthcoming with any historical information or enthusiasm. Would not bother visiting again.
