John James Audubon Museum

We postponed Mother's Day from last week to yesterday and decided to drive to Henderson to go through the park and museum. It was just absolutely lovely. The grounds were immaculate (even had a wedding while we were there) and the museum was just perfect for a day trip. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Excellent opportunity to see how Audubon did his drawings (a bit not like today's naturalists!) and tried to provide for his family. I want to go back again and take more time as we got there about 90 minutes before it closed and we were definitely rushing to see as much as possible. FYI--not much wifi or phone service in the park--that's ok!!! UNPLUG and enjoy the surroundings!

Audubon State Park

The trails provided a nice walk although could be pretty narrow in places. One could easily complete all the trails in a day. There were some steep hills that made parts of the trails challenging. The lake was nice and allowed my 11 year old son to go fishing (no license required for him). The grounds are quiet and well maintained. It was a nice relaxing way to spend the day. Entrance to the park is free, but if you want to go to the museum there is a charge.
