Northwest Trek is one of our favorite places. We went today and saw moose, big horn sheep, bison, trumpeter swans, black tail deer, elk, and various other animals while riding the tram. These animals are encouraged to be close to the road, they are fed on the road.
This is such a great place, you can bring your own lunch, walk around and see so many other animals. This is unlike a zoo. It is amazing. Our grandkids love this place. There is a new play area, a few zip lines all among the beauty of nature. This is so worth your trip.

Pioneer Park in the heart of downtown Puyallup is a great place especially for small kids on a summer day. There's a nice playground and a nice spray park. The park is adorned with dozens of the most beautiful hanging baskets you've seen. There are coffee shops right across the street and in the southeast corner is Giorgio's Greek restaurant. It's not big (one square city block by my estimation) but has lots of grassy areas, is crisscrossed with sidewalks, hosts a farmer's market and outdoor concerts. It's about five blocks north of the Puyallup Fair grounds. I won't give you much for the southhill part of Puyallup, but downtown still has that old small town feel and Pioneer Park adds to that feel.

This place is a gem. We have been going here since our daughters were small and now we bring our grandson whose one. He loves it! He loves to feed the animals, play in the musical forest, play with the toys and everything else. Jim and Debbie are so sweet and fun. It's a great place with fair prices to spend the day!

Set in the simple grandeur and beauty of the Pacific Northwest, Chase Garden sits on the bluff with a majestic view of Mt. Rainier. The garden is distinguished by subtle modernist, Japanese influenced landscape design and an inspiring story of it's creators. You'll see alpine meadows, a woodland walk, carefully place boulders along the paths that open up to an amazing view of the mountain. If you enjoy gardens, this one is not to be missed. Just lovely!

This a great little brewery at a private type of residence. We are from out of state and this was a great place to go get great beer and scenic views. We were able to get a sampler for $5-7. Great deal. The hours are Fri and Saturday 3-7pm. I overheard someone saying you can contact them for specific events. Great experience and would like to go again.

Talk about a kid in a candy store. The LeMay Auto Museum is just nirvana for everyone who loves wheeled transportation in all its beautiful, strange, weird and kooky forms. LeMay is located in Tacoma in a really interesting free-form wood laminated building overlooking the harbor and next to the freeway -- easy to get to. It's not over priced like some museums because you can easily spend an entire afternoon swooning over classic cars, sports cars, cars with vintage pedigree in addition to some motorcycles and even electrics. My recent visit featured a nice collection of post-WWII vehicles that represented the Eisenhower era of my youth. Studebakers, Kaisers, Hudsons, Packards, etc. all gleamed in their deserved spotlight. It was a kick in the pants to revisit the marques that are long gone but not forgotten,
The LeMay is definitely worth a detour. And, enjoy lunch in the museum cafe while you are at it. Parking is free.

We had a wonderful time at the Puyallup Farmers Market and really enjoyed the fact that ALL dogs are welcome! I will say that it was so nice to be there on a day when the weather was absolutely perfect. No rain, temperature was mild and very fun taking my service dog Pearl out with us. We picked up some organic skin cream, purchased some very nice wood cutouts from a vendor and special ordered an item to pick up in another week. I especially loved a vendor that sold Fair-Trade Baskets from Africa that are absolutely amazing. By purchasing through a vendor at the market, it helped to promote a cottage business as well. We had some ono Hawaiian/Polynesian food. Packed it up after seeing/purchasing what we wanted and headed for home. We went back one more time and even brought a friend. We plan on going again next year to see what's new! We do have a local Farmers Market (5 minutes from our home) but it was fun to check out some old stomping grounds from years ago. Terrific for singles, couples, families and friends. Can't say I was disappointed about anything! I'd even make the trip all by myself.

Small park with a lake in the middle. It's a good walk around the lake though, great to bring the dog or just walk with a friend. There is a small playground for younger children and a covered pavilion for get togethers with friends or family. And it's set off the main drag, so not a lot of traffic. It does get busy on weekends and late in the morning though and the parking lot is small, but there is nearby street parking. There is also a couple of small baseball fields for kids.

The family of Harold Lemay played a huge role in creating the downtown Tacoma Lemay America's Car Museum but this is their own creation. And it's quite different. Much more eclectic and casual. On the grounds of a former school with cars, trucks, trains, toys......the LeMays collecting spanned a wide variety. There's also event venue space here if you need some.

My son (3) and I LOVE their toddler times! He's right in between the two she groups so we often go to both (ages 1-3 & 3-5) and they're both equally great! The host is always so patient when little ones want to wander and incorporates songs between each book to get the wiggles out!
They also have an amazing children's section where kids aren't expected to whisper or remain silent! They have puzzles, blocks, computers with age appropriate educational games and a reading area where you and your little one can sit and enjoy a book before checking it out. They also have a good variety of books, movies, audio books... etc.
Haven't checked the adult section much but it is up a beautiful staircase separating it from the sometimes noisy kiddos. They do have computers you can use for adults and the membership was free, just needed a local address on your id or a proof of residence piece of mail.
We are here regularly and will continue!
