The Parish Church of St. Mark

It has a grand profile, enhanced by fine brick work and flourishes of embellishment on the facades. A bi-coloured steeple rising heavenwards is outstanding. It is placed in a tranquil green space with seating and a fountain. An impressive stone cross has a prie-dieu in front allowing the offering of prayers. It has a very long history of serving well the congregation. First ceremonies were in 1888 and its official dedication was five years later. As well as religious services, concerts and other presentations are hosted here.

Moonlight Rollerway

I absolutely LOVE this place from Monday adult skate to Tuesday Wurlitzer Organ night, Wednesday disco, Thursday whatever... just go! Even if you can’t skate or are scared, there’s someone or something (skate walkers) to support you! The music could be better, especially if you go often it gets old, but it’s classic for the overall 70s -90s vibe of the place. Parking is minimal in the lot but the Home Depot across the street is open and accommodating. Have fun!!

Forest Lawn Memorial Park

This famous cemetery has dozens of fancy Hollywood tributes and exhibits, and it attracts over one million annual visitors.

Serene, beautiful setting for some of Hollywood's most famous. It is a working cemetery so it's important to be respectful as you'll find families visiting final resting place of loved ones. It makes for a great visit though as it is quiet and well maintained (it seems the hills are used by locals for hiking). The cemetery doesn't view itself as a tourist destination (no maps, etc) and there are too many famous graves to list, but do some research in advance to plan a route.

Went once again to an amazing performance of BRIGHT STAR (from Steve Martin) - full of singing, dancing and bluegrass music. The cast of professionals brought a tear to my eyes with the poignant story of a lost baby found. This theater is a gem, founded and run by a local family it is the oldest continuously operating private theater group in the nation. You can see a ton of 99 seat theater performances on the west side of LA but this place is a story in itself.
