The short one is around 10km, the bigger one around 13km. Not that difficult at all, very nice views during the entire path.

We did the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse first and arrived at Krimmler Wasserfalle around 4:30pm. It was later than we would have liked as we had to drive to Innsbruck afterwards. The benefit of arriving later in the day was that the parking lots were emptying out, and we had no trouble finding parking. Parking is paid, and the amount depends on the duration - we paid 4 EUR for 2 hours. Entrance to the waterfall costs 3 EUR. There is a free restroom at the ticket office but nothing beyond that.
Krimmler Wasserfalle is the largest waterfall in Austria at 380 m. There are 3 tiers, and it supposedly takes 1 hour to walk to the top. We've young and avid hikers and found the hike strenuous as it's a constant uphill, going up 430 m in elevation in 4 km. Not sure how many people can do that in 1 hour... We also went on a hot day in July with temperatures close to 30 deg C. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed the hike as there was a lot of water from the waterfall and the view is beautiful. It's one of our favourite attractions in Austria.

Went here with my Family and we really liked it. The Ski area is very large and therefore you have a lot of options to go for.
Some nice views you have here as well and you should also visit the Königsleiten Ski area when you are here.

Wahnsinniges Bergpanorama in dem traumhaftem Spa und Bad. Alles sehr hochwertig ausgestattet und modern. Sehr viele Ruhemöglichkeiten und verschiedene Saunen und Dampfbäder. Absolutes Highlight ist aber der Infinity Pool.

If you wanna have a classic Austrian apres ski night this is the place to be in Koningsleiten. Great friendly atmosphere during the winter nights.

We really loved this place. Very nice views, very good Almhütten, a lot to see, very nice landscape. We also enjoyed the coaster and a bagjump. Will be back!

Staying in Mayrhofen it made sense to use public transport to get to the furthest point of this ski area then head back to Zell am Ziller to get the train back, however I'd suggest just accesing straight from Zell if you're an average to good skier as it's a small area that you'll cover quicker by ski than on the slow and winding roads to konigsleiten (sorry for posting the review here but this is the closest lift on TripAdvisor)

Our kids ranging from 3 to 15 spent an hour playing with the water canals, climbinh on the towers, ringing the bells, stamping their cards...
Even the the swimming pool of the hotel lured, we had great difficulty to get them to the cable car.
What a fairy tale place!

The Penkenbahn is great. New. Clean. Efficient. Make sure that you go to the Shop/locker room at the top. When we were there (July) they had a visual that looked like silhouettes of people taking a shower. Very clever. Very innovative. Walk up/ take other lift to the top to get lunch.

As you pass through Gerlos, heading towards Krimml, the A165 takes a left fork and the majority of traffic heads that way but if you stay on the right fork you come across the ticket kiosk for the Gerlos Alpenstrabe. A Day ticket costs €9 for a car or €6 for a motorcycle (Sept 2016) and when I say that the road was planned by the same architect that completed the Grossglockner High Alpine Road then you know the scenery is going to be spectacular, the driving or riding exhilarating and the experience will be something not to miss.
The road takes you all the way to the foot of the Krimml waterfall but the views of this natural beauty as you travel the road are awesome (don't forget to look at the other scenery too). Okay so this road doesn't have the numerous twists and turns of Grossglockner but it still has a fair share and is a snip of the Grossglockner price. In fact, you can obtain a combined ticket that covers both roads but you need to check out the website for details.
This is twelve kilometers of a most beautiful route with spectacular scenery and well worth the visit. There are lots of viewpoints and quite a few paths leading off for those that wish to enjoy a hike.
When we visited we did not pass any eateries on the route but there were plenty in Krimml and I suspect a few in Gerlos as well (either end of the road).
