The exhibition with lots of documentation about the family, their roots and their lives but also very good informative documentation about what happened in those years in general with timelines.
One of the best I saw so far.
You can see also farm buildings and animals but that was uninteresting as everything was closed - at least during the week now.

A taste of country dropped into the city. Something for everyone: Cow milking demo, goat feeding, pony rides, bobcats, blacksmith demo, ice cream store, playgrounds, one room schoolhouse, and more. Many educational aspects. Stroller friendly. Children will love it; teens--not so much.

White Tail Run Winery

Beautiful log-cabin like building, rustic look, and very appealing. When you walk inside, you are wowed by the beauty of the wood, and the selection of wines. Dan, the owner, took very good care of us, and took his time explaining the different types of grapes and their aging to make the different kinds of wine. He let us taste a large variety of wines, from dry to sweet, Whites and Reds. It was a delicious experience.
We left with 4 bottles of wine and a huge smile. Coming back!

Groundhouse Coffee

We were in Gardner at a sale and decided to stop in for a cup of coffee. What a wonderful surprise awaited us! The food, coffee, tea, and ambience of this coffeehouse is a must see; even worth a trip to Gardner just for coffee and a scone or sandwich. Service and friendliness of the staff was fantastic! I adore Pumpkin Chai tea and this was the best I've had by far. Can't wait to go back.

Ernie Miller Nature Center

Reviewed By alafex - Olathe ks

Ernie Miller has been here in Olathe for decades. It has gone through several renovations during that time, all of which have significantly improved it. In the Nature Center building, they have live animals and have recently opened a new exhibit room with hands-on exhibits. The biggest attraction for us is their system of trails, which range in difficulty from easy to moderate. Perfect for getting the kids out into nature (and adults too!).

Our kids look forward to strawberry picking every year at this orchard. There is a play area with hay and picnic tables. Just bring a sack lunch and enjoy fresh strawberries for dessert. Also, the staff is very cordial and the price for the strawberries is very reasonable.

The Herman B. Foster house was built in the Spring of 1893. A classic example of Folk Victorian architecture. Visiting the museum is like taking a step back into the past. Each room is filled with exhibits that highlight Gardner's early heritage. Our goal is to preserve our history and to increase awareness of the historical significance of our area and people.

we were so surprised at how interesting this place is. We've been twice now. Once there was a WWII exhibit, and we went to some kind of outdoor celebration there. If you're at all a history buff, you'll love this place.

Lanesfield Historic Site

Little known place off the beaten path. Professionally managed museum with excellent information and displays of early farming life in Kansas. Then you walk a short distance to the nicely restored one room schoolhouse. Most of the time there is a schoolmarm there to explain and guide kids through some hands on activities. We've visited many times, and its free.

Kill Creek Park

Reviewed By Jan B - Olathe, Kansas

Our family took a ride out to the park in July and made use of the swimming beach. The beach itself wasn't that great, as the heat of the summer sun heated the water so it was like bath water rather than refreshing; however, the lifeguards made our visit more than worthwhile, as they were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
