Nathula Pass

Reviewed By pratibha_sa - Noida

It's not that simple to visit Nathula Pass. You need to plan and book atleast a day in advance. Your hotel or tour planner can do this easily for you. You need to provide an id proof and Rs 5000 for a taxi. Please note that you can not take your vehicle up there, you need a registered taxi that will be approved in the permit granted to you/your hotel or trip planner. You need to start early as there are timing restrictions. It's a beautiful ride, almost 2-3hrs offering gorgeous views of the valley. Since only limited number of vehicles are permitted upto Nathula Pass, almost 20 mins before Nathula Pass, the passengers of two cabs were shifted into one. Once you park the vehicle, you need to walk and climb a good number of stairs. Please note that the oxygen level is quite low at that level and you will feel short of breath. Though it was not snowing when we visited but the wind was absolutely chilly. Once you climb up and reach the pass, the feeling is great. You are right there at India- China border with China just a step away from the rope. You can see China's bunkers, the ancient Silk route and beautiful mountain ranges extending upto Bhutan and Tibet. The soldiers give you detailed brief of the area around and you feel proud of Army serving nation at such high altitude. On the way back to Gangtok, you can visit Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir and Tsongmo lake. A tiring day, well spent!!!

Tsomgo Lake

Visited Tsomgo lake and baba mandit in March 2018. We had to wait for permits for 2 days since weather there was not ok. It was worth the wait as the whole trip seemed like fantasy
The whole stretch from Tsomgo to Baba mandir was covered in snow. The mountain ranges were clearly visible as the weather was just perfect
A must do when in Sikkim...

Enchey Monastery

Reviewed By BananaLu - Bangkok, Thailand

Buddhist monasteries tend to look a bit alike after few visits, but I liked this one, the paintings were very beautiful, the place was peaceful, some monks were chanting so we stopped to listen to them. I guess it is a good place for meditation if you are able to meditate!
