Jungle Land Panama: Day Excursions

We offer the best day tours on the Panama Canal. Our tours showcase the flora, fauna, and the Canal operations. For a very unique experience we operate the only floating lodge on the Panama Canal. Don't just visit the Canal "LIVE IT!"

We did the Emberada tour, Gatun lake, aerial tram and night safari. All were guided and very good. Emberada was nice. We traveled there by boat in the Panama Canal. Met a tribe and had talapia with plantains. We went on a jungle walk and saw some frogs, trees and lots of bugs.
The gatun lake was great too. They got us up close to monkeys.
Aerial tram was very good and included a walk to learn about different plants and some history. We climbed a huge tower which thankfully had ramps and not stairs so my knees did much better.
The night safari was good. It was in an open vehicle through some living areas and near a boat ramp. We saw capebara and sloths.
Overall the tours are excellent.

Birding Pipeline Panama

Birding tours to Panama's most-famous and best birding destination: Pipeline Road, Gamboa. "Best" destination is due to amazing bird diversity, fast access (45 minutes) from Panama City, easy walking, close bird viewing, few birders, and inexpensive park fees. Typical birds include trogons, toucans, motmots, puffbirds, parrots, tityras, antbirds, antpittas, antshrikes, manakins, and caciques; mammals include sloths, anteaters, and howler monkeys. Guide is Nando Quiroz. Guiding service was founded by Kent Livezey, and website is managed him.

We hired Nando for three days prior to conducting an informal bird count with him in the Puerta Lara area. We birded several diverse habitats on our way to Puerto Lara from Panama. Nando is absolutely amazing at hearing, locating, and seeing the native birds. He can imitate any call. He is considerate and helpful -- and has a great scope. He can accommodate the most serious birder or novices. Bring your own bionics, but you don't have to lug the scope if you don't want to. Highly recommend. Accommodations in the area are very basic, but comfortable enough for the adventurous traveler.

A lot of foliage and no wildlife. Be prepared to walk up 5 stories to the top at the end of the tram ride at the top.

Small boat, about 2 dozen guests. When animals are spotted, captain does a great job moving the boat so all get a chance to view and take pictures. Not a long ride - maybe 1.5 hours - but that is plenty.

A great day on the water with wildlife.
As much fun as it is to be on the canal next to the cargo ships and realize just how big they are, the real fun starts when you get off th main path.
When you start into the little inlets, you begin to see just how beautiful the land really is. You start to feel like you're in a movie as you get further in, cause it just keeps getting prettier.
Make sure you have a good camera for pics and vids, cause it will get lots of use!!

Panama Pipeline Bird Tours

Professional bird and wildlife tours of the famous Pipeline Road, Panama. Hike in the tropical rainforest of Soberania National Park and explore amongst the highest bird diversity in the world.

My wife and I recently took this tour. Although we are not "birders," per se, we had heard so much about Pipeline Road that we wanted to experience it with a really knowledgeable naturalist/guide. Saul was simply fantastic! He's a great spotter and is enthusiastic and interesting about everything that he points out--both flying and non-flying. (A surprising highlight of our tour was seeing and learning about amazing ant colony organization.)
Best of all, Saul was a just pleasant guy to spend a day with. Highly recommended!

Gamboa Rainforest Resort Monkey Island Tour

Take a boat tour through the Panama Canal into secret waterways to find hidden Islands where Capuchin and Howler monkeys can be seen leaping in the trees above. Occasionally, they become curious of visitors and venture down to take a closer look. This Panama Canal tour provides a unique opportunity for viewing wild monkeys in their natural habitat. Other animals you might spot on this tour includes Two and Three-toed Sloths, Crocodiles, and turtles that are native to Gatun Lake. The boat ride to and from the island passes through the Panama Canal, giving you the chance to spot huge container ships during their passage across the world.

Has a terrific time. We arrived minutes before the tour started and were booked immediately. We took a small bus to the dock where we boarded a boat (with life vests) for our tour. Our tour director explained everything and we pulled up to the island and saw the different types of monkeys. They will come right on the boat if you offer food- bring bananas- candy and certain foods affect their digestive tract.
If you have transportation book directly through the hotel- we saved a fortune that way.
