I am very pleased with the 10 dives I did with O2 Fakarava.
Pre-visit emails were informative and promptly replied by Marion, mini orientation with Thibault at my pension was assuring and helpful, and pick-up/drop-off was on time and can be flexible.
Dive Centre has everything you need - storage, rinse tubs, relaxing area with table/chairs, bathroom and shower on the dock where the boat is - though their NEW Dive Centre is opening soon according to Thibault.
They do 2 morning dives and 1 afternoon upon request(Thank you!!) on the North Pass. Depending on demand/schedule they also make a Day-Trip to the South Pass with 2 dives & hearty lunch, which was super fun!
Their boat comes fully equipped as well - gears in center, water/tea/cookies, soap for your mask, dry storage and hanging storage where they have fresh TOWELS for each diver - brilliant!!
Grand MERCI to the super duo, Marion & Thibault, who are friendly, fun, personable, professional, not to mention great dive instructor/guide. Last but not least, big Thanks to captain Christophe who took great care of me and all other divers.
Can't wait to go back♡

Matthew, from Spain, was our guide on our snorkel excursion. He was very professional. We did this snorkel in very snug wet suits. This trip was in a Zodiac style of boat. The excursion took place in the afternoon and the tide was low, which made entering and exiting the boat at the pier not trivial. We had a thirty minute ride to a coral reef that other operators visit as well. Only one other tour was there while we were there. We were offered anti-fog spray for our snorkel masks. Our guide kept the eight of us together so he could point out things to see, like specific fish or coral. He was very knowledgeable and brought many things to our attention. Getting into the water from the boat was easy. Getting into the boat from the water was more difficult, but everyone managed it, although some needed help from the guide and/or the boat driver.

TOPDIVE Fakarava

The best of scuba-diving in Fakarva. 2 Diving centers in Fakarava located in Rotoava village, and on motu Penu close to the south pass. 4 Dives a day - Fun dives, introductory dives and certifications. Free Nitrox and free pick up.

Reviewed By David_Laurie6 - Red Bank, New Jersey

Top Dive did a great job. Equipment was good although as previously mentioned we were surprised with Nitrox only. My wife and I have only 30 dives. We did not notice any changes using Nitrox. North dive was great and a bit easier for us. Dive masters were excellent We found the current in the south pass was stronger than we were used to. Extra effort in the south caused us to use air and shorten the dive. Might want to skip the south pass if you are inexperienced or not in the best physical shape. Also we stayed at Raimiti in the south end of the island. People that transferred from the north to dive the south and return the same day said it was a very long and tiring day.

Fakarava Diving Center

Reviewed By J H H - McLean, Virginia

Extraordinary 3 hour snorkel expedition out to one of the most beautiful coral Gardens. Great guide who was so into our safety as well as the quality of our experience. 30 minutes high speed from Rotoava pier to the site. Glorious SAFE snorkeling experience in waters from 2 feet to 50-ish. Probably the best snorkeling I've ever done. Pristine waters/great viewing of corals, South Sea "giant" clams, black tip and nurse sharks, thousands of colorful fish, including morays, pipe fish, parrots, you name it. Swim fins, masks, snorkels provided. Great experience and highly recommended. Had about an hour at the site and it was just right. Fakarava itself has the most extraordinary lagoon and if you are a beginning snorkeler or okay swimmer - this is right up your ally. The guides really care about the quality of your experience!

You could stay in the water all day. It's been an amazing experience being in Fakarava, with only 800 in population this destination will wow you. The water is so clear & warm, we practically lived in our bathing suits the whole time we were there.
Pack light & bring your suncreen, you don't need much to be on the beach.

Fakarava Excursions

Reviewed By must_need_H2O - Draper, Utah

The snorkeling area was good in the wonderful warm water, lots of different marine animals to observe while floating on the surface. The white sands wonderful to walk on, unfortunate the shallow depth of the "blue lagoon" is not good for the corals and most were bleached white. Probably could have spent more time at the snorkeling area instead of the lagoon. Still a good day to play in the water and the sun
The Good: The water, the sand, the fish in the snorkel area
The Bad: The blue lagoon is very shallow and the corals are in distress
The Ugly: Go to paradise and see ugly, better put some blinders on
On the scuba bubble scale of 1 to 10 give this place 7+ bubbles

Kariga 2 Excursions

This one of the largest of the Tuamotu atolls with an unspoiled ecosystem. A beautiful sliver of an island, in some places it takes you about 5 minutes to walk the width. There are so many pinkish sand (powdered crushed coral rock) Beaches on this island, you can easily stroll or snorkel from beach to beach. It is so pristine, this pure environment has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This outfit is a good choice for the Tamakohua Pass, the southern pass. Fred is entertaining and the snorkeling amazing plus a yummy picnic, very enjoyable! I did see some reviews that he cancels if not enough people on this remote island. If he is not available there are lots of diving tours, excursions, motorboats, charters, etc. to choose from and would suggest you take advantage of one OR if you just want to snorkel off the Beaches one can simply walk and explore as only a few miles of road on this idyllic island.
