Little Traverse Wheelway

We parked in Sunset Park in Petoskey and headed to Harbor Springs. In order to avoid the airport and the noise of busy roads, turn down Beach Road and follow this quiet road all the way to the delightful town of Harbor Springs. You will pass lovely homes and waterfront views. There are many eateries to choose from in Harbor Springs before you head back to your starting point.

Nub's Nob

Recreation area offers downhill and cross-country skiing, 246 acres on 43 slopes and runs up to almost a mile in length.

Another great annual ski trip to Nub's Nob! I just wanted to pass along my thanks to Nub's Nob for enforcing their Covid protocols. There was a young lady constantly traversing the lobby to make sure that folks were masked up properly. They have suspended indoor eating and drinking this season to allow more people to come in and warm up. They have the food system down. Once you get it, just bag it and head outside (we ate in the car to stay warm). Nub's is always well groomed and the staff is always friendly and helpful. We appreciate that they limited lift tickets to keep the crowd down. Best skiing in Michigan!

Upon arrival there were a couple of guys to help you parking and tell you which way to start on the trail. It was a beautiful walk and of course the lake view was gorgeous.

Enjoy our new large outdoor Biergarten for food, beer, wine and hard cider! Wander the farm with a beer and take in our 200 acres of nature. The kids will love the gnome house hunt through the woods, the pumpkin patch in the fall and the playground and farm animals are a must as well!!

Love feeding the bass out in the pond. Slinging giant squash using a giant sling shot. The animals are fun for the kids. Great place to bring the sleds for the kids and the parents can sit inside tasting some divine beverages.

Pond Hill Farm Winery

What an amazing place we happened to find. It was the hidden gem of our entire 3 week road trip. We just happened to be passing through the area with the plans of driving through the tunnel of trees (right up the road) when we were giving the recommendation to stop and see this place. Man are we glad we did! They had and have everything to see and do all in one location. Amazing Visit! So this place has a winery, a brewery, a restaurant, indoor and outdoor patio seating, trail walks, trail horse buggy rides, pumpkin patch, flower garden, fish ponds, family photo opportunites, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin slingshot, pumpkin basketball, gourd launchers at targets for prizes, gourd and potato baseball, potato golf, freshly made hot cider doughnuts, and an amazing gift shop.... It literally has it all. Keep in mind it is located on a beautiful piece of property. It was well maintained, family owned, friendly staff and on and on. We literally spent more than half a day here goofing around, which was perfect for my family. I'm sure all the locals of this area love and support this place. It allowed the opportunity for my kids to get out of the car, let them use up some energy, and as a family we all legitimately a ton of fun together. My son loved shooting the gourd slingshot or launchers at the targets. My wife and daughter loved the pumpkin bowling for prizes, my other daughter loved feeding the fish and I loved the BEER! Beer and wine were both very tasty. Several options depending on what you like. Food was fresh and nicely plated. We spent so much unexpected time here that we wound up staying in the area for another night before getting back on the road to our next adventure. Thank You for an amazing stop and a wonderful family owned property. Best of luck in the future as business grows. Cheers

Petoskey State Park

Situated on the East end of Little Traverse bay, the Petoskey State Park is one of the most amazing beachfront areas in the Great Lakes. It's like a smaller version of Holland State Park. Miles of sandy beach, amazing water, a really nice concession stand, the ability to bring your own picnic and beverages - just wow. We visit at least a few times a summer to "get away" from it all because it is so relaxing. Highly recommend! 5 stars

Maple Moon Sugarbush and Winery

Located on 80 beautiful acres in Petoskey, Michigan, Maple Moon Sugarbush and Winery offers a little slice of heaven for its visitors. Maple Moon is a wonderful addition to the Petoskey area. Family owned, the maple trees and facility are open for tours and the Peterson's are delightful and welcoming. They sell their products at an on-location store, which includes their own super premium maple ice cream (which is world class) with their own 100% pure maple syrup. They have numerous grades of syrup, all made on the premises, as well as jam, salsa, home-made maple granola and other specialties. Their latest addition is nothing shy of amazing. They have become America's First and ONLY maple winery, with nine 2015 vintages available. It doesn't get any better than this. The Peterson's do it all themselves, and it is a family labor of love. It's wonderful that they have settled in Petoskey, so we can all fall in love with Maple Moon. Tour the sugary and sample delectable treats such as maple syrup, maple candy, maple ice cream, maple root beer and maple wine.

This was a great way to spend about 3 hours! A beautiful drive through the forest with breathtaking views of Lake MI. Once you get to Cross Village you must stop at Leggs Inn for lunch. Plan to wait, but grab a drink and head out to the garden. Beautiful flowers and view of the water.
