We often go riding here as we have rooms in nearby Limni and send our customers here too but this time we had family in town and wanted to try the wine tasting too. Wine tastings need to be booked the day before which we did. We tried 5 wines (2 whites, a rose and 2 reds) and had some cheeses, cured meats, and the most amazing fig chutney I've ever had. The kids then went for a ride and we stocked up on our wines (and chutney) and had a fantastic time. Will definitely do it again with a small crowd and I think I few people will be getting some chutney for Christmas this year.

The Healing Thermal Springs of Edipsos

Just outside the gates of the posh luxury spa hotel of Thermae Sylla is a small strip of beach over which flows the natural hotspring water as empties into the sea. The incredibly high mineral content has left an impressive a smooth layer of mineral rock pock-marked with little tide pools of various temperature. Sitting on the edge with your feet dipping into the sea, with a few waves to cool you, the therapeutic effects of the water can be taken even in the hit summer months. However, I had the thought when we were there, that the most amazing experience would be had in the colder months when the very hot water would feel soothing on cold stiff muscles and joints.
My husband and I really enjoyed swimming here and enjoyed the sensation of the thermal Springs, even though it was mid-summer. We stayed at the Thermae Syla and loved the pristine pools of the spa, but there was just something a little more magical in natural experience.
I don't know who wouldn't love this. Especially since it's totally free.

Vriniotis Winery

The Vriniotis family winery is based in Gialtra, a small village in northern Euboea, 14 kilometers away from Aedipsos. The winery operates throughout the year and welcomes visitors who may taste its wines in a connoisseur guest room. The panoramic view from the winery premises is captivating, for one can behold the vineyard, the northern Euboekos Gulf, Aedipsos township and the Oreoi passage that leads to the Aegean sea. The private vineyard of 100,000 square meters is located in Gialtra and at the foot of Mount Telethrion with an altitude that varies from 200 to 450 meters. On its slopes grow the red Greek varieties of Vradiano, an old variety of northern Euboea -born-again due to the efforts of the Vriniotis winemakers- together with the Mauvrokountoura variety and the cosmopolitan Syrah; along side grow the white Greek varieties of Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Aedani and Malvasia. The northern Euboea region is known for its therapeutic thermal Springs, the inactive Lichada volcano and Islands and its quality wines that led Homer in the Iliad to characterize the Histiaea land as «rich in vines» (Homer, Iliad, II 537).

We visited this winery in September 2013 but have not been able to review it before now.
Once we found out there was a winery not far from Edipsos town, we made our way there with an "expensive" taxi ride. We did not arrange an appointment with Vrinioti Winery but once there we were warmly welcomed by Kostas, who showed us his cellars and invited us for a tasting.
Whatever you are going to drink or purchase, it is worth doing. Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Syrah or Vradiano are the indigenous grapes. The Vradiano passito is only bottled following a good vintage and we were lucky enough to take a bottle away with us. The winery is up high overlooking one of the nicest Beaches of the island. Once our visit was over, Kostas kindly offered us a lift back to town. The wines were very good and we recommend other travellers visit this lovely property.

It is good that there is this clean beach inside the city.. It is the cleanest because along the rest of the area you will find many little hidden tubes .. It is not only clean it is the one that looks more organised than the rest too, since it is the only one that efatures two beach cafes that also provide sundecks, umbrellas and coffee,..It is ideal for having a walk during the night (has also a ice "tzipouradiko" too...) THE IDEAL FOR FISHING LOVERS!
