We had a blast with our 7 and 4 year old grandchildren. They loved having so many rides to choose from and we enjoyed the all rides included admission price. The park was immaculate and the rides are in pristine condition. Most rides are nostalgic and from other kiddie parks which makes it very nostalgic. My husband and I commented several times at how nice the park looked (lovely summer plantings, koy pond and all the buildings were freshly painted.
One of the many highlights of the day was getting to visit Santa Claus. He has his own beautifully decorated summer house and each family has a private visit with him. Santa was so sweet with our grandchildren.
Thank you to the owners of Santa Village for restoring this park and making it a magical place. I would say this might be the top kiddie amusement park in the U.S.

Underground Retrocade

This place has two floors of retro arcade games. Pretty much any game my husband or I could remember from the 80s was in the arcade somewhere. My favorite room was where the pinball games are located.

Pay one price and play everything as often as you like. That's the only way. No food or drinks, though. I can understand why. These games are not easy to replace.

Sears Centre Arena

I already have submitted a review on Sears Centre Arena. It has been published. Why did TripAdvisor place this subject on my website again? They don't bother to explain their mistakes or oversights. They do a lot of dumb things. This is just one of them. But, for the record, Sears Centre Arena has became a popular venue for high school basketball in Illinois, a site for sectional and supersectional competition. The students and players love it because it is much larger that a high school gym and offers a big-time feeling, like playing in United Center or Madison Square Garden. And there is plenty of parking. The facility is very convenient, located just off the I-290 expressway in Hoffman Estates.

When I first saw the Gail Borden Public Library I was so impressed with the building. And the location near the Fox River adds to its beauty. The amenities offered by this library to the community are extensive. Of course you can check out books, but they also offer classes on how to use various types of computers, they offer educational programs and hold community meetings there. It is a resource of unlimited information. Elgin is so fortunate to have such an amazing library.

This outdoor mall was very unique to ones I have visited in the past. My wife and I came here on a recent Saturday while we stayed in the area. We drove through the mall and came across their famers market. We stopped there and purchased several items and were impressed with the selection. The prices were very reasonable as well. While we didn't shop at the mall itself, we will make sure to stop by the next time we travel to the area.

Haeger Potteries

Reviewed By PattiHunt - Roselle, Illinois

This was a place my mom liked to visit back in the 1960s. They specializes in lamp bases/lamps, vases, bowls, planters, figurines and bakeware. There is a small museum that covers the history of the designers and business. Items range from tabletop sized items to larger pieces for entryway pieces. Pottery is made on the premises and you can see the operations from within the store. It is quite warm, sauna-like in the store near the check-out. It was fun to revisit a place that had been a favorite of my family. I found several nice pieces for my own home as well as more to give as gifts. Love buying quality pieces direct from the factory. Made in America too!

Elgin History Museum

Reviewed By Anna G - Chicago

Your fist stop in Elgin should be here. You will learned about very rich Elgin history. But also you can find broschures and maps for other local attractions.
This museum is small but staff very friendly and helpful. Before I came here I knew about Elgin watches and I highly recommend this museum to learn more about Elgin National Watch Company. But there is more interesting desplays here (like for example about company manufacturing famous compacts) and more...
Entry donation for adults $3. It is open Wednesday- Saturday 11AM to 4PM. Great to visit with kids. Free parking.
