Tri-State Speedway is a multi-level indoor entertainment facility featuring a 22,000 square foot Go-Kart track, massive arcade, mini golf course, bumper cars, play place gymnasium, bowling, and more! Family owned and operated, this establishment opened in the Spring of 2008 and has expanded year after year adding new games, amusements, and attractions as well as the opening of Drafter's Sports Cafe, a pub-style restaurant and full bar located on our lower level and the opening of Sk8erz, our brand new indoor Roller Skating Rink! Along with every day play, Tri-State Speedway also offers birthday party package deals and private areas to host your special event or private company function. En route to the Indian Princess paddle-wheeler’s dock, we got a brief tour of the Indian Ranch.
Indian Ranch was built as a campground on the shores of Lake Webster, formerly known by the Nipmuck people as:
Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.
Now, it also features an outdoor concert venue with a relatively small covered stadium and open-air metal bleachers. The combination of mixed seating supposedly held 3,000 people. The stage was relative small. We were given the concert schedule. The Charlie Daniels Band was there Sept. 9th. Bret Michaels was there Sept.10th. Other big names in the 2017 season included Pat Benetar, The Marshall Tucker Band, Eddie Money, Huey Lewis & The News, Josh Turner and Dwight Yoakam.
In the adjacent area, a large building was under construction. We learned that it was to be a restaurant with large picture windows overlooking the lake.
And, its fourth feature is the Indian Princess Mississippi River-style paddle-wheeler.
In all, it was developing into a very nice facility.
We enjoyed our time here very much.
With what exists there now and what is to come soon, we rate the Indian Ranch at 5.0.

Went to see "Buddy", a musical we fell in love with after seeing it at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia a few years ago. The play was excellent; particular credit goes to the actor who played Buddy Holly. Loved the show.
The theater is small, seating is tight, but every seat has a good view. The staff (mostly volunteer I understand) was friendly and really motivated to see everyone had a good time. The patrons dressed very casually - nothing formal here - you can be comfortable in attire. Theater sells snacks and beer.
All in all it was a rewarding experience; it was our first visit there but definitely won't be our last. Although we drove 1 ½ hours to get there, we liked the whole Putnam area, and plan to go back again when we can spend a full day in the shops, restaurants, and of course the Bradley.
Ample free parking is very close - 1 block or less - spread over several lots. Make sure you download the downtown parking map from the Bradley's website, to get your bearings.

I reviewed this wonderful house in July, 2013. This is our third visit to Historic New England's Roseland Cottage, but our first visit in the sun. The first two times it was raining so hard, that we never got to enjoy the beautiful gardens in front of the house. We have paid expensive admission fees to see flowers and gardens that were not as impressive as what we saw today in the sun.
We have been members of Historic New England for many years. It is the best deal around. Family membership is only $60.00 a year. You can visit all 37 properties as many times as you want for an entire year.
Roseland Cottage is open Wednesday - Sunday from June 1st to October 15th. You must go on a tour to see the house. Tours are on the hour from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. There is a visitors' center where you arrange for the tours $10.00 ($9.00 for seniors) if you are not Historic New England members. There are rest rooms and a small store in the visitors' center The center was open when we got there at 10:50 A.M.
While in the area, you might also want to visit Roseland Park which Henry Bowen donated to the town of Woodstock in 1876. Henry Bowen, the man who had Roseland Cottage built as a summer home, needed a bigger space to host his huge July 4th celebrations, so he bought land and established a park.
Woodstock Academy is across the street from Roseland Cottage. Founded in 1801, it was Henry Bowen's financial support that kept it from closing in the 1840s. Henry and other family members continued to contribute generously to the Academy for many years.
Every spring the graduating seniors (over 200 of them) come over to Roseland Cottage for a party and to tour the house. You may also want to tour the Woodstock Academy's campus.

The cars are awesome but if you think you are driving around the Thompson Speedway, you are in for a surprise. The drive takes place in a parking lot! The $50 insurance is unnecessary, as you won't make it out of second gear. It's a unique experience, but not really worth the fee.

Such a nice place to get together! There are three water slides built into the hill- slower, medium, and faster. There are NO STAIRS TO CLIMB! Woohoo! You walk a ramp/hill to get to the top. There is a nice lake front that is shallow and buoyed off. No worries, there is no muck, just nice sand under your toes. There is a small arcade and a snack shack. However, you can bring in your own cooler of food. There are picnic tables or you can lay a blanket/beach chair on the grass. I like to play cards with my husband while the kids toss a Nerf ball. Such a nice relaxing place to go.

I have had the opportunity to visit museums all over this world. Optical Heritage Museum is in a word a Treasure sure to inspire history buffs and anyone with eyes! It's packed with local anecdotes and displays scientific instrumentation in the development in Optometry and fiber optics: some currently the gold standard. Dick Whitney conveys his passion-in fact our visit marked his first day of employment at AO 43 years ago. The quality is as robust as The Smithsonian with free admission. I'm especially fascinated by the display of the eyeglass frames worn by Ben Franklin, JFKennedy, movie stars and beyond. If you're visiting Old Sturbridge Village be sure to add this stop just 5 miles away in Southbridge.

What a great place for a quick hike that is both fun and gives lots of options you can make this as easy or as difficult as you want. A pleasant stroll down the middle of the chasm or an adventure over and under rocks some the size of small houses. Once you get to the end of the chasm you can walk back on either rim for awesome views.

We visited Treehouse on a beautiful snowy Saturday afternoon. What an amazing location, the facilities were unbelievably nice with a live band was playing. Staff was super friendly and the beer was delicious. I don’t know if I would’ve had such a great experience if we had to wait out side in the snow but I was glad we didn’t have to. Just wish we had more beer to choose from to take home with us. We would return for another visit.
