Dehradun (/ˌdɛrəˈduːn/) or Dehra Dun (Garhwali: देरादूण) is the interim capital city of Uttarakhand, a state in the northern part of India. Located in the Garhwal region, it lies 236 kilometres (147 mi) north of India's capital New Delhi and 168 kilometres (104 mi) from Chandigarh. It is one of the "Counter Magnets" of the National Capital Region (NCR) being developed as an alternative centre of growth to help ease the migration and population explosion in the Delhi metropolitan area and to establish a smart city at Dehradun. During the days of British Raj, the official name of the town was Dehra.

The Tibetan Buddhist temple is the famous tourist destination and is known for its beautiful architecture, impressive interiors and peaceful environment. The wall paintings inside the temple shows the life of Lord Buddha.It is an imitation of a Tibetan Monastery to preserve and promote Tibetan culture in India.It is built in a Japanese architectural style.The temple contains statues of Buddha and ethereal wall paintings. The temple also has an open air viewing platform from where you can enjoy the view of Dehradun.So it attracts the visitors to come here.

Hi I wanted weekend break and thought of visiting the Dak Pathar and Kalsi Combined. The dak pather in this summer was rather disappointing. The only attraction is the park near the barrage.Probaly after summers will be best time to visit. The place is quite and natural.
Though there are some stuff for children to enjoy , but not for long. Evening ours the best time to visit there. There is No place for night if somebody is thinking to stay over night. The Government Guest house is in worst possible condition.
Not much good restaurants at Dak pather for eating. More suitable for eatout. Dont look for formal restaurant.
Recommended in non summer time for 4-5 hours of stay.

Nestled in a beautiful valley, Tiger falls is a place you might want to visit if you are around. The caveat is that the pool in which the falls fall is rather small. A group more than ten people can overcrowd the place.
The falls are a long drive away and the gates welcoming you on the way build your expectations to unrealistic heights. The falls are a long way down and I believe it is walk for the fit, not for the food lovers like me. In the end of the long walk, the falls though beautiful are a little underwhelming.
But compared to commercialization of Kempty falls, I would pick the Tiger falls any day.

I go for treks often but this time I wanted to go with a small company as opposed to some of the bigger and commercial ones. I picked an agency who had a local tie up with Himalayan Shelter. All my initial communication was with the other agency but once I reached Deharadun, Himalayan Shelter was in charge. We were a group of 5 trekkers who got picked up in a Bolero. The facilities provided by them were basic both at the Homestay in Sankri at the Kedarkantha base camp. There were some glitches in communication like our forest entry fee wasn't paid, our lunch on the first day of the trek was cold (We got cold boiled eggs and dry rotis with no sabzi or acchar). At the camp there was no arrangement for a fire (it was promised to us although later we found out that those are not allowed in the forest area). They were not planning to give us crampons or gaiters initially for the hike up to the Summit. Upon insisting, they finally provided them to us. The saving grace was our guide Hari who not only made our experience memorable but also cooked some brilliant food.
Overall I had a good experience but if you are looking for a more organised trek with hot meals and on time facilities, my recommendation would be to book with a bigger company.

Camel's Back Road is a narrow road off Mall Road in Mussoorie. It does not have much traffic or activity and is decent for a 2-3 km warm. It is far better than walking on Mall Road. It offers good views but does not compare with the peace and scenery in Landour.

This Shiv Mandir is unique in the sense that No Donations are allowed for offering. Situated on way to Mussorrie from Dehradun near Diversion, the temple is situated and one can have a pictorious view of Mountains. As prasadam one gets free Tea, Kichari (Rice & Dal recepie) and puri-bhaji depending on time of arrival in the temple. One should stop enroute for a short break. Outside even icecreams are on sale at discounted price. Furthermore, gems and precious stones are also on sale. The atmosphere is peaceful and fragrant, however, beware of Monkey menance.

Its a beautiful place and a must visit place if you have come to spend few days in Dehradun. FRI as it is known as short form has an amazing architecture built in the British era. It has got big Gardens where you can spend your time with your family and have good picnic. It has huge museum which is worth watching and visit. If you are in Dehradun for few days than you need a day if you are planning a visit to this place.

I had visited this location previously and today as before I was impressed with the beauty of the Temple. It is quite a large area overlooking the west side of the foothills. Several large building below with activity suggested perhaps sleeping accommodations for devotees. You can enter the Temple and walk about the green lined paths. Do,Visit the Book store and ‘storyboard area below the Temple. I will add a few pics later after this review Is posted

We provide scooty and bike on rent in Dehradun. The condition of these vehicles will be good. We can provide the vehicle to your drop location. Be it ISBT or Railway station(on nominal charges). A voyager has more to do with the JOURNEY than SPOTS! We provide homestays aswell.

Had a pleasant experience with Dehra roadies. Both bikes and scooty were provided on time and were brand new as well. These guys were really helpful. I would suggest to all to give a call to dehra roadies for a self driving trip to anywhere...MoreThanks for the review. :)

Sprawling complex. You need a ticket at the gate for car entry and entry into the ground, Rs. 30 and Rs.7 per person respectively. However, another ticket of Rs.40 needed for museum visit.
I was rather impressed with the grounds, which are huge and has quarters, hostels, labs, criss crossed by roads. The main building is huge and lovely, with lovely corridors in warm honey and brown colours. The six museums open from the corridors. The rooms are pretty, big and interesting, with galleries above (out of bounds for visitors). One museum is under renovation. We visited five. There timber museum is impressive. Another one was forest products, like oils, bamboo, straw. Liked it. The others on tree diseases, insects etc wasn't for me.
Everything under reasonable maintenance. It is a living place, as many offices are opening out from these corridors.
It is worth a visit.
