Hinagdanan Cave

Reviewed By Acineto

The cave is located on the Northern side of Panglao island. There is a 50 peso entrance fee to go in and it comes with a guide. After heading down the rocky stairs you end up in a cavern filled with water. You're able to go and have a swim in the fresh waters of the cave.
The roof is covered with stalactites and quite rocky. There are life vests available for those that want it.
We didn't swim, we just headed down to have a look. It was really humid inside, more so than outside. An interesting stop before heading to the airport.

I travelled to Bohol over new year 2015 during my first trip to SE Asia (I'm based in Joburg and UK) after a recommendation from a friend. Spindrift is a gem of a place. It's about 10mins inland from the main touristy Alona Beach with the hotels, bars, and dive schools. No problem if you want to go out, or relax on the beach as you've got own scooter to get around at your own pace. But the rest of the time, the Spindrift Reef's team take care of every detail. I was worried about being away from the diving action, but it actually works excellently. I dived twice a day, sometimes three. We set the schedule - location and timing! no having to wait for others in the group to get ready. What a pleasure to dive at your own pace. Everyday when I was driven to the beach, the kit was already on the boat and we were away in minutes. Everytime I surfaced, ice cold towels and refreshing drinks were close at hand as well as a nice hot lunch if we were waiting out for a second dive. The night dives were spectacular. My dive buddy - Manuel - was superb. I also did my Advanced Diver course whilst staying at Spindrift Reefs - once I'd asked for the course, all arrangements were made very smoothly. I won't talk about the diving - if you're looking at Bohol you know how spectacular it is.
The apartment is above the restaurant. A neat little two double-bedroom self catered apartment. Perfect getaway to have an afternoon snooze and/or read up on the course notes for the diving. There's a little kitchenette, but I didn't use it at all as the food downstairs in the restaurant is excellent. A really nice mix of simple local dishes as well as some standard international stuff. It was always nice just relaxing downstairs, chatting with the always pleasant young local staff, before jumping on the scooter to relax at the beach.
These guys have set up something really cool - charming local experience, quite different from the business of Alona beach, but that's just a few minutes away on a scooter or in one of their pick-ups if you want to get more involved. And brilliant value - no way you could get this personalized experience with the quality of service and amount of diving. Great place.

Panglao Beach

I like Panglao Island and Bohol. But be aware that you will arrive a fairly commercialized and crowded plance. It was better 8 years ago but still worh visiting but still you have all you need, differente bars to have a drink, restaurants and hotels of difference prices classes and above all - Bohol is a big island with a lot to offer for those who cant stand just streching out on the beach. I recommend to take out cash in Tagbiliran before you go to Panglao because some times the ATM machines are out of order....

I had 2 scuba dives in Balicasag Island and 2 freediving sessions with SeaQuest Dive Center. Both were fun and memorable thanks to the super crew who were professional and attentive. SeaQuest manager, Ben Meerhaeghe personally guided and taught me freediving techniques that exponentially upped my game. He made me reach a new depth of 18m with considerable ease. Ben inspires confidence! Highly recommended place for any dive in Bohol.

Cuco was a sensational instructor for my 11 year old son. He learned to dive one-on-one over three days in the extremely kind and capable hands of Cuco. When they parted, my son was almost tearing up. Cuco went the extra mile at every opportunity. He even collected us from our resort and bought us an edited video of our diving experiences, free of charge. We felt very safe at all times, following PADI guidelines, with a good dose of common sense. The dive shop is part of the Buzzz cafe, bee farm and resort. If I were to come back to Panglao, I would seriously consider staying in the buzzz resort, as it had a real local feel with a touch of western comfort.

One of the best natural sights on the island of Bohol. The way from Panglau island to these Hills (which are millions of years old) formed from coral when the sea level dropped is another must see. With over 100 steps to the peak it's worth every step. The colors from the top are amazing. www.worldwidetoddler.com
