La Maison des Esclaves

This centuries-old house served as a processing center for African slaves.

Reviewed By HappyGourmande - West Kelowna, Canada

We had a local fellow named Ali who was magnificent, taking us through and giving us information on each room and how the slaves would arrive and be treated throughout their time here. You don’t want to miss understanding the impact of this place in history. If you really want to understand the impact of the place, make sure you have a guided tour.

Accrobaobab Adventure

Reviewed By beachbummer75 - Singapore, Singapore

I have done at least 5 of such adventures in Asia including Malaysia and Thailand but this was a different experience First you are on your own to fix up everything yourself which is actually good . You slow down to think and be more careful instead. It’s very safe as the gadgets do not allow to be unlocked when one is not attached. In addition, We had a detailed briefing followed by a trial on low grounds before setting off. Two stations required participant to walk across the cable which was scary especially with winds blowing and the cables start to sway. Swaying on cable perched high in the air was scary but enjoyable. We also tried climbing the baobab tree which was unique experience. I really recommend this.

Lompoul Desert

Reviewed By Juanpag93

Have you ever wanted to see sand dunes and have a night out in the dessert-like experience but can't go all the way to the Sahara? Well, this is a great chance to experience it. The Ecolodge camp has very cool tents, free boards for sand-surfing, a live drum band playing at night. I also recommend you take the 15 minute camel ride offered throughout the day; it's only 2500 CFA (about $5).

Island of Goree

I enjoyed every step. The food was excellent and we were able to visit most of the main attractions. Especially Goree Island..I recommend Mika Guisse the tour guide manager of Trip Tour Senegal for anyone traveling for the first time to Senegal. He was very thorough ,patient, informed and we could understand him very well. Don't miss the Pink (Salt) Lake and Cheikh Diop University.

Le Monument de la Renaissance Africaine

Reviewed By MalinAliBey - Brooklyn, United States

The size of the monument doesn't come through in pictures. After climbing over 200 steps to reach the summit you realise you had a better view from the base as the statute it's too big to take in fully up close.

Lago Rosa

Reviewed By SimonettaP61 - Ivrea, Italy

Everybody visiting Dakar goes there, and for a reason! Better going in dry season, I was lucky enough to be there on a day in which the colour was particularly strong. The contrast with the white of the salt piles, makes the scene even more surreal. Drawback: the car hadn't stopped yet, when 3 men called from outside suggesting different, expensive, ways of having a tour. A walk was my choice, nonetheless I couldn't walk alone, a man came with me, said I could go on my own, and of course asked me for money at the end.

Village des Arts

Reviewed By PABADOU - Dakar, Senegal

Amazing place where you will find real artists painting. No hassle. No hard sellers. To the contrary none lf them would adress you unless you do. Sadly this place is being confused by some reviewers with Village Artisanal which really is unfair as the latter is a very commercial touristic area with no original art creator (and very pushing traders!). Some of the reviewers actually visited Village Artisanal instead of Village des Arts!

Mosque of the Divinity

Reviewed By Bucciaribelle

Located off a main road, the Mosque of the Divinity is extremely evocative for its architecture and view. A long staircase will bring you from the main road to the Mosque, otherwise you can go down via cab. I really enjoyed strolling around the Mosque, but unfortunately I did not have the chance to go inside as it was closed
