Established as the "Aladdin" theatre, the doors opened to the public on August 18th, 1924, showing silent movies. Later, Brevard's first "talkie" movie house became known as "the showplace of the Indian River Section". Several owners and several decades later, the building was restored operational and began producing community based musicals in 1989. In 1991, the Playhouse was accepted onto the National Register of Historic Places under the official name "The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse." Known to all as "Broadway on Brevard" this team of volunteers and staff are truly an example of one of the highest quality community highest quality community theatres in the country. I have been to this venue several times over the past few years and have never been disappointed. The restored playhouse is just beautiful. The seats are comfortable. The view of the stage, whether in the balcony or in the lower level is all good. The staff, orchestra and actors/actresses – all volunteers – put their heart and soul into each production to ensure that the patrons have a wonderful evening.
Our group of three arrived early enough to procure a parking space in one of the public parking lots not too far from the venue. But parking could become more challenging, as it gets closer to show time. We saw Mary Poppins and found the show to be very good, although I did have problems at times understanding the dialogue through the sound system. It didn’t take away from the performance for me though.
If you’re looking for a nice evening out to take in a play, I strongly recommend you give the Cocoa Village Playhouse a try, if you’ve never been there before. You can buy tickets in advance on line or at the door on the day of the show.

A great place to “park up” and take a stroll. Some lovely historic buildings including the theatre,
Sadly could not find (after a thorough search) a coffee shop, which would be a great addition and I am sure a successful enterprise!
Still would recommend a visit - including the park which fronts the river, which is beautifully maintained.

Chanced upon this compact little park while walking around the old village. Very well maintained with shady walkways and seating, bandstand and kids play area. Fronts on to the river with pathways along and around the park - looked like a place where locals frequent!

Brevard Museum...Where history comes alive! The mission of the Brevard Museum of History & Natural Science is to operate and maintain a museum for the education of the public about regional cultural heritage and to preserve historic artifacts and natural history specimens that support this educational mission.Company OverviewThe Brevard Museum, Inc., also known as the Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science, is conveniently located in Cocoa, Florida bordering the Brevard Community College Cocoa campus and the city's original water supply, Clearlake. A not-for-profit corporation since 1969 existing under the laws of the state of Florida; the museum sits on a 22 acre parcel of land that includes a 19.5 acre nature preserve encompassing three Florida ecosystems.
We were looking for a museum in the area because inclement weather threatened. This Museum fit the bill perfectly. It is small in size but has some interesting exhibits. They have a really nice collection of seashells. The display about the Windover archaeological dig was informative and I learned about the turpentine industry in Florida. There is a room of extinct mammals such as a mastodon and giant sloth which was fun. There is a play room for the kids including a rocket playhouse and a tree house. We spent almost two hours in the museum. There is also a nature path which we did not do. It was well worth the visit.

Johnny Danger was a fantastic musician to have on the trip! The ride up the Indian River was way too short, but tourists probably didn't realize it. The luncheon provided by Squid Lips OK but not great. The staff and crew however were tops! We plan to go on this ride again despite our minor complaints. 4th of JULY for sure!
The trip was advertised at one price, but another was charged. A call to their phone corrected this. Hope they get this straightened out as we heard some complaints from other passengers who didn't call in about the discrepancy.

Rain spoiled looking through the telescope ; but, the volunteers made up for it with information and video viewing . The hands on demonstrations and experiments delighted all the quests . Everyone was giggling and wanting to try all the centers. Good venue for all ages except the laser light show to rock music might be a bit much. It is loud and a bit nauseating; but, I am a senior and loved it . Tired of regular movies . The Planetarium has fantastic nature and science films. This an overlooked outing that is quite enjoyable . Limited schedules , so check times online .

I visit the Office of Tourism and the staff was real helpful. I would like to think Candace for all the information she was a real professional. It's workers like her that made my visit enjoyable.

Very nice park to sit, observe and relax. Located in Cocoa Village, Taylor Park is small but very nice. It has benches to sit on to watch the birds, people, and children play. It's relaxing and quiet here.
