Um Sarau Imperial é uma dramatização interativa, baseada em trechos retirados da correspondência particular da família imperial, que proporciona ao público a vivência de uma atividade de lazer no século XIX, abordando aspectos políticos, sociais, econômicos e culturais daquele período. A atração é embalada por modinhas imperiais cantadas por uma soprano e acompanhadas por uma pianista. A encenação se passa no ano de 1878 e tem como personagens a princesa Isabel e suas amigas: Adelaide Taunay, Amandinha Paranaguá, Francisca Taunay e condessa de Barral. A apresentação faz uso de interatividade entre os personagens e o público como forma de suscitar comparações entre o passado e o presente, estimulando a reflexão crítica sobre as mudanças ocorridas no país. The Imperial Museum in Petrópolis, Brazil, is one of the most attractive cultural points of interest near Rio de Janeiro. Located in the town's historic center, the museum was once Emperor Pedro II's favorite residence. Today, it is one of the most visited museums in Brazil, with the annual average of 300.000 visitors. The exhibitions tell the Brazilian Empire history through furniture, objects, paintings, sculptures and other historic and artistic pieces that belonged to the imperial family or other people from the 19th century.

In 1845, Dom Pedro I declared Petropolis his summer home. The Imperial Palace was completed in 1864. The neo-classical pink and white building is very beautiful and was used as a royal summer home until Independence in 1889. It was then used as a school and became a state museum in 1943. It houses 300,000 artifacts from the royal reign including the Imperial Crown Jewels. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside the museum. I really enjoyed my visit -- it is a very worthwhile day trip from Rio.

Beautiful building where used to be the very first Brazilian brewery, where a complete set of information about the beverage and where we can eat and drink the beers produced over there.
