Taman Bunga Nusantara

Reviewed By enooh - Singapore

This place makes for great photos and you do wonder the extent they go to ensure these flowers thrive in the tropical climate, even though they mostly hail from temperate regions. All in all, it feels like a very good botanic Gardens, over-manicured to some extent perhaps, which is rather unreal in the local context of Indonesia.
If you are a flower lover, this place is a must, the entry fee is cheap by international standards. Or if you simply like to escape the bustle and bad air in Jakarta, make this a part of a trip out, including say a visit to Taman Safari and Bogor highlands (a tea plantation visit is also great), Would be nice to stay in a hotel in Bogor as well, as the environment beats the congestion and pollution in Jakarta.

Little Venice

Maybe because it's late for me to have this visit since this area was built around 16 years ago that's why I didn't really impress. For young people and kids I think this place will suit them better. This place look old, some parts showed the poor maintenance and its not really "Venice" in my opinion. The best part I found there was the beautiful lake, a small garden to seat for a while and nice weather to walk, I guess it was around 20C. I came on Wednesday so I couldn't find many choices for eating since many of them only opened during weekend and public holiday. The main attraction is the gondola but you will find others than gondola to play on the lake, they also have a static phinisi boat where you can enter, and on land they have some stalls for games.

Cibodas Botanical Garden

Reviewed By sosweetme - Jakarta

I used to skeptical about this botanical garden. Because good reviews only for Bogor botanical garden. But after i visited Cibodas Botanical garden, i changed my mind. This is the best botanical garden i've ever visited....seriously.
The landscape was beautiful. I went there using small mpv car. I arrived there before 12 pm. The security told us, if we arrived before 12 pm, the car may enter inside botanical garden. But after 12pm the car can not enter inside the park. The car should be parked outside park. Hahaha we were lucky because the park was huge...gempor deh kalo disuruh jalan kaki...you can make picnic lunch and office outing or even a wedding reception there.
The weather was very nice, the air was fresh, very comfortable to have picnic there. the entrance ticket only 8 ribu/8k per person. Car ticket 15 ribu/15k. That is the legal ticket. You will be asked for double entrance ticket. The first entrance ticket is for security from local security/preman berseragam resmi. It's cost 3500/3,5 k per person.
You can ride a horse inside the park.the cost is 50 ribu/50k per person...if you can bring bicycle, just bring it...it's nice to ride a bike there...this place also good for pre weeding...this place is way more beautiful than taman bunga nusantara or bogor botanical garden...next time i will return to cibodas botanical garden. Have a nice picnic there...

Gunung Padang Megalithic Site

I was pretty disappointed at this place especially after driving around 2 hours each way just to get here. The government hasn't done anything to rebuilt the place and it honestly just looks like a pile of rocks. Entry is 5000 rp and its about a 10 minute walk up a few hundred stairs. The view from the top isn't that great, the view on the drive in is much better. If you are into archaeology I guess you would like it but if you aren't then I wouldn't bother with this place as its just too far from anything and certainly not worth your time.

I stayed just under a day and a night with Kus & co. Leading up to the home stay Kus was very helpful with answering emails etc and providing information.
As a solo female traveller, I felt very comfortable and safe with the guys and I had a great time. They really made an effort to show me around. Kus is keen to provide information on his home town and the surrounding area and to give you a genuine taste of West Java.
This was somewhat "off the beaten track" and I had such a nice time visiting this part of Indonesia. I would recommend taking a day or so if in Java to stay here as it provides a slightly different experience.

Pantai Jayanti

Reviewed By Yo J - Brisbane, Australia

My bf and I traveled from Bandung to Pantai Jayanti recently. We left from bus terminal "Leuwi Panjang" and took a small mini bus to Ciwedy. It was packed, cramped but sometimes it's all part of the fun! It costs 12K rp per person. Then at Ciwedy you will get asked many, many times if you want a motorbike. We preferred not to as it's like 3hrs + from Ciwedy to Pantai Jayanti. We caught a larger bus from Ciwedy to Cidaun. They only leave once they are full so it can take a while. We were kind of lucky in that this bus was mainly transporting goods for people along the way so we weren't cramped in. However, about 3/4 along the guy who helps the driver started hassling us to pay more. We have handed over $50K rp each and they wanted another $100K rp. Once we refused, they basically let us out in a random town, turned around back to Ciwedy. We didnt know where we were so we started walking. A lot of locals said "hallo" and asked us where we were going. Eventually we had a family help us get two motorbikes and we paid them $50k rp per rider to take us the last 20 odd km's to pantai jayanti. Once there you are supposed to pay $2k rp per person to enter the beach area. The beach seemed pretty clean but it is a big fishing area. If you are a confident swimmer you could def swim, if you aren't you might be a bit intimidated by the waves, rip. I thought it was quite pretty. We got to know some local fishermen and purchased a whole fish from the market, then had it cooked. We def were charged foreign rates but for $7 per person for a fish, rice, water can't really complain. It was bloody delicious!! I had read online that fish should be 30 000 rp per kilo but i don;t know when that was written. We paid 80 000 rp for 1.5 kg fish. Then extra for cooking, rice etc.
We were going to stay the night near the beach but our bus back to Ciwedy from Cidaun was at 7am and thought it best we be closer to the bus. We did check out 2 hotels and they were pretty basic and wanting between 150Krp - 400Krp. I thought it was a bit overpriced. We ended up walking for a while and a guy gave us a lift to some little town near Cidaun which has a "homestay". We paid 150krp including breakfast. It was the hottest room I have ever slept in!!! However the bus does pick up out front - 60K rp person from there back to Ciwedy. I believe if you do stay at pantai jayanti and get an ojek from there to meet the bus in Cidaun it should be around 12krp for the ride. You probably have to bargain before though! The area around pantai jayanti is really pretty. If you did have your own bike it would make it more accessible. I would recommend if you want somewhere local and quiet (during the week).

I found nothing interesting here. The parking lot is limited and they are not ready for crowded visitors. The maintenance of the place is totally low. Even the toilet has lower quality than most toilets we find in bus stations in Indonesia. Very dissapointing ??
