Los Morrillos Light

Reviewed By travelhappy1177 - Raleigh, North Carolina

Being a few weeks ahead of Christmas, we were pretty sure the lighthouse would not be open. But we went anyway, having read other reviews advising to do so. The roads and properties leading into Cabo Rojo were some of the best-maintained we experienced during our entire trip to PR. The nature preserve leading up to the lighthouse property is beautiful. Since the dirt road in the actual preserve was full of potholes, we parked and walked the last mile or so up to the lighthouse. I highly recommend doing this, since there are exceptional views all around. The lighthouse was neat to see even from the outside, and the cliffs and ocean beyond it some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever been blessed to take in. After enjoying the views, we made our way down a trail behind the lighthouse to the Playuela, a gorgeous beach with turquoise water and gentle waves. When we were done, it made for a perfect loop to head back toward the car. If we had not had children along, we would have continued hiking some of the other bluffs alongside the playuela. This was one of our favorite sites of the whole week in PR. Check out lunch or dinner in Joyuda if you visit Cabo Rojo--lots of places starting to open back up post-hurricane.

Mike and his team (Omar, Shannon and Jose) were AWESOME.
Even though we had a short notice reservation, they did everything possible to accommodate our family of five.
When we ran into some mechanical difficulties, they were "johnny on the spot" to create a very fair resolution.
Their waverunners are fast and the tour all the way to Playa Sucia is something we are already talking about doing again on our next visit to PR.
Don't miss this one!

Noel and Xavier were excellent guides. They were very personable and worked well with our family. I highly recommend them. The adventure was outstanding. Rappelling, zip line, tubing through caves..... What a great day. Mind you, when they say you must be physically fit, they mean it. This could kill a couch potato. Even though we are completely worn out and sore, we would definitely do it again.

The Mayaguez main square has a statue of Columbus.

Plaza Colon is all lit up in the evening and they have some amusement rides and lots of vendors to order local Puerto Rican food. The lights on the building change colors, it is gorgeous (not sure if they only do this during the holiday). Lots of people were walking around, it was very festive. An hour or two is fun to hang out here.

Captain Mendoza and his crew are the best! They really went above and beyond our expectations. Good humble people that love what they do. Before we even got there, Capt Mendoza, had chairs, umbrellas and a table set up for us. Can't wait to come back and get some more fresh pineapple from Luijo!!!
Gracias!!

When you arrived to this beach you are literally in one of the most remote corners of the island. It’s in a natural reserve. So it’s important you arrive early on weekends cause they only allowed a certain quantity of people. If you visit this beach you will enjoy clear water, clean sand and the opportunity to visit the lighthouse and the natural reserve. Believe me you won’t regret it.

Paradise Scuba and Snorkeling Center

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling Center in Puerto Rico. Explore the Bioluminescent Bay in La Parguera or book scuba diving trips to the Wall.

Reviewed By GahuGrrl - Middlebury, Vermont, USA

We had been wanting to dive La Parguera/the Wall for a while, and finally got a chance to do so. Paradise was recommended as professional and top-rate by our "home" scuba shop in Rincon (Taino) and they were absolutely right. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff helped us enjoy our experience from start to finish. Cachi, our captain for the day and a dive leader also, kept us informed, safe, and laughing. (The Teaser is an awesome boat, too.) Edward and Chiqui (forgive me if I mis-remembered or misspelled anyone's name!) also took great care of us, and each of them offered different information and advice for both of our dives. The sea was a bit rough but once we were in the water it was SO clear, and amazingly beautiful, and the drop down the wall blew my mind. Gotta go back and dive there again for sure!
We found out they had a biobay tour going that night and they said they'd get us on the boat, which they did - and we are so glad we want. After chicken empanadas and some drinks (beer!) we were taken to the bay area, given some great information about the bay and how the dinoflagellates work (it was very cool to hear the process and how/why it might be a brighter or dimmer glow on a given night) and then given some time to jump into the bay and have some fun. What an enjoyable time.
If you are in the area, you gotta go take a dive, snorkel, or bio bay tour with these folks. If you are not in the area.... go to the area and take a dive, snorkel or tour!!!! And enjoy.
