This popular par-72 course was designed in 1966.

Course is a bit out of the way but I enjoy the mostly flat course after multiple hilly courses in Brentwood area. BIGC has been around a long time and sometimes shows it's age. Decent bar/food service area and normal prices for the area.
Plus: Flat wide open course-good staff-good breakfast buffet on weekends.
Neg: Out of the way-older-not much of a challenge-cows and trailer parks take away from a well groomed course.

Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve

Reviewed By Snakewrangler - Brentwood, California

One of the visitors centers was closed for construction, the other one was cute but super small. The walk to the cemetery was long. Off to the mine for the tour. Little table for the kids to do some activity books to become Jr rangers. The mine tour was under construction (would have been nice to know in advance) so we geared up with hard hats and flashlights to walk about 50 yards in to cave, then turn around and head back out....a little disappointing.

Sunday morning walk in the preserve was so nice. A lot of families out and about. Take water with you but, take empty bottles our of the park. Do not stray off the paths. There are loose cattle and as the days warm up there will be rattlesnakes.

Captain Morgan's Delta Adventures - Day Cruise

Reviewed By bb0314 - San Francisco, California

Captain Morgan and his wonderful crew offer cruises as well as houseboat rentals aboard this fully renovated houseboat along with outstanding hospitality. We took a cruise from the Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor and went to Stockton where we had a very good lunch at Garlic Bros. and then returned to our launch point. It was a reasonably priced package and one of the best afternoons I have spent in a long time. The main deck is enclosed and offers a full kitchen with a dining table and chairs, a comfy sofa and a small private patio deck. The above deck has the bar, a counter top island with stools and a number of individual padded chairs from which to view the scenery as well. Drink orders are taken for very reasonably priced adult and non-adult beverages. The stairway to the above deck is narrow and steep. But, those who are challenged will still have very good views and comfort from the main deck. The 2 'heads' are also on the main deck. While they are easy to use, the quarters are tight. Those who are space challenged may want to be sure to use the facilities at both the Broadway Grill in Discovery Bay as well as their destination if they go ashore. All facilities are very clean. I can't say enough about the staff. The 3 crew members and the Captain kept an eye on everyone and not only made sure we were safe but they truly wanted to make sure we had a good time and were not too warm or too cool. In the winter they close the flaps on the top deck and use heaters if it is chilly. Views are still good through the transparent flaps and this is a trip worth taking. The Captain narrates a bit as interesting sights or stories arise. His play list is diverse. And, if you bring your own tunes he can stream these as well. The Captain does a full safety briefing before folks can board. And, you will need to sign-in on the roster before you board. This is to acknowledge the safety briefing as well as to make sure the Captain and staff know how many folks are aboard. They also 'count noses' if there is a shore excursion to make sure all guests are on the return trip.

We love Hannah Nicole...the wine is really good (our faves are Sauv Blanc and Zinfandel) and the ambiance is relaxing but with a really classy feel. The inside rooms are open and quiet and the grounds are beautiful with plenty of chairs and views of the surrounding area and vineyard. We are wine club members (and have been for a few years), so we enjoy going to the member events that they hold throughout the year.

The Wild Idol Saloon

Historic bar with vintage decor & Old West memorabilia, plus live performing music on weekends. Neighborhood watering hole since 1883, when a German immigrant named Henry Wilkening built it. The Wild Idol is "Always a Good Time", so come out and party. Every Friday and Saturday live music featuring bands from all over California.

Reviewed By Ski-Dave-Ski - Oakley, California

Very interesting place. Most of the staff is nice but the clientele is something else. Pretty much a biker bar that gets pretty rowdy on Saturday and Sunday night. Not a place you want to take a date after a movie, this is not a "CLUB", this is a "SALOON". Welcome to the Wild Wild West.

Contra Loma Regional Park

Reviewed By epbkm - Antioch, California

We love this park!! It is a great place to escape the suburban sprawl, and breathe in the outdoors. Lot of hikes, both easy (around the lake) to more challenging (up in the back hills). The lake has a large sand entry pool attached, which is great for the kiddos. What is nice is you can bring a picnic lunch with you.

It does cost to park inside the park, but if you want to just go for a walk/hike, you can park outside of the park for free (James Donlon by the baseball diamonds, or just outside the entrance - but make sure you leave nothing in your vehicle...it is known for break ends). The hiking is dog friendly...please keep them on a leash...but beware of rattlesnakes when the weather turns warm!! Yes, I have seen them...ugh...but fortunately they don't want anything to do with you either.

I saw Bob for the first time for a custom massage to treat chronic sciatica. He made me feel comfortable immediately and it was obvious he has treated sciatica before. The massage pinpointed exactly where work was needed and post the massage he gave out great advice on stretching techniques to help ease the symptoms. I bought 5 more sessions that day! I highly recommend him if you are looking for someone in the Discovery Bay area.

Lone Tree Golf Course

This walkable 6,481-yard, par 72 golf course is located along the rolling hills of Antioch, featuring plenty of trees and scenic vistas.

Antioch's little secret is the amazing golf course and restaurant. This is an old municipal golf course that has been remodeled and upgraded. The course is fun and a good workout. The restaurant and banquet center are exceptional. If your just going for lunch after a round of golf, or planning a big dinner, this is the place. The food is outstanding and the service superb. A fully stocked bar is available.
