This is an attractive bridge which is no longer used by vehicles. It is a nice setting with trees and a grassed area. Its very pleasant to just walk across it and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I expected a lot more by all the hype the media and people provide for this place. It certainly is worth seeing but don't expect to spend more than 5-10 minutes being in 'awe' here. my friend and i travelled here looking for a great place to hike and this is within shouting distance from the parking lot. So we decided to hike around Anne Stokes Loop which made it worthwhile. Broken beer bottles and glass all around the old foundation, the staircase was cool but if you saw the photos then you've seen all this place has to offer.

One of the best and most scenic Welcome Areas/Rest Stops I have ever seen! It embodies the essence of rural, country Vermont. There is plenty of space to relax and wander, gather great information about every region of VT all the while enjoying the scenery with huge floor-ceiling windows, rocking chairs and country comfort!

I have been visiting this bridge for years. I live in Mass but every once in a while during the year for the past 40 years I visit under the bridge. Sometimes I bring a lunch and spend time siting on a rock watching the beauty of the bridge and the scenery. Many many years ago you had to stumble down to the water but now there are steps. Love it here!

Brattleboro Farmers' Market

Reviewed By eastmagicmountainman - Guilford, Vermont

This "farmer's market" is mostly for the carriage trade. There are many opportunities to receive massages, purchase pottery and sip herbal teas. There are even a few vendors selling veggies, artisanal cheeses and breads), legumes, etc., but mostly at HIGH prices (though towards closing time you might find a few bargains). Also, there is usually a local band performing, a sandbox for the kids, and picnic tables to enjoy lunches bought from one of the vendors. If you are really doing a weekly shopping for the family, however, I'd recommend that you visit one of several farmsteads in and around Brattleboro (in West Brattleboro, on the way to Putney on Route 5, or in Newline, for example) . Some of the same farms which sell at the Brattleboro Farmer's Market also have their own farmsteads, where prices are much more reasonable.

These walking trails provide for interesting views of the West River Valley in Brattleboro. The trails are not difficult and are well-marked. I stayed in town at the Inn on Putney Road - located on Rt. 5 in Brattleboro. The Inn is an excellent choice for lodging and offers walking trails that you may access from their property. The trails connect to the Retreat Trails. Brattleboro is a great town to visit and offers plenty of nice local restaurants as well. Try The Marina, Brattleburger or the Grille on the Hill.

Robb Family Farm

A 350-acre farm - the barn and country store are open to the public.

Reviewed By MLDA222

Found this lovely family-owned farm through a search for places to visit on our drive from the Vermont segment of our vacation to see friends in Connecticut. The Robb family obviously puts lots of love and pride into preserving a traditional New England way of life.

Charlie, whose grandfather founded the farm in 1907, warmly welcomed us, and gave us and our two teenagers an informative and interesting tour. We enjoyed learning about the process and the history of the operation...and THE MAPLE SYRUP TASTING...THIS STUFF IS TO DIE FOR!!

Once you taste this nectar of the gods, you will NEVER go back to grocery store maple syrup again. We'll be ordering a gallon jug as soon as we get home!

In planning our trip to Brattleboro we saw that we were in town for the exhibit. The set up was beautiful and when it was toppled it was beautiful. It took 2 days to set up and three minutes to knock down. This was well worth watching.
