Good farmstall to stop at. Local crafts, lots and lots of wine, and a restaurant. I have spent a lot more money than intended.Glad you enjoyed yourself at Platform. We are a small family-run boutique olive farm nestled in the renowned Robertson Breede River Valley surrounded by the Langeberg and Riviersonderend Mountains. We extract extra virgin olive oil and process our own unique range of table olives and tapenade. Come and enjoy the ambience of the Robertson Valley as well as the taste of our olives and olive oil, a fruit well-known for its remarkable health benefits. Heading out of Robertson towards Ashton on the Red you will turn left into into Klaasvoogds East (NOT Klaasvoogds West) and travel for about another 2km's till you see the big green Marbrin Olive growers board on your right, turn in there and follow the dirt road for another 2KM'S till you reach the tasting room. Road can be a little bumpy in places, but worth it.

I found this attraction when I looked for thing to do around Robertson. We had a whole tour around Robertson visiting the wine farms and went to this farm. We were welcomed with open arms by Bryony. We sat outside and 2 other couples joined our family. My husband and I with my parents in-law. Clive was inside with another group and the tasting started. We tasted from the olives to the olive oil accompanied with a bread that Clive bakes. The nicest bread I had in a long time! Should have asked for the recipe. I think Clive could work in the theater as he is quite the entertainer. He made jokes and the atmosphere was great. We ended off with the most divine Limoncello. We left will olive oil, olives and would have bought more but were restricted on the plane. We had a lovely visit and would go there again. I would make a reservation for lunch and taste more of the produce incorporated in their food.

We saw this on things to do in the McGregor region. It was a lovely warm day and we were greeted by a young guide who was extremely well spoken and well mannered.
We were given the safety talk and then entered into the donkey paddock.
There were quite a few donkeys ranging in age from around three to over forty I think. All have there names and if you are patient they will get curious and come to see you.
Many of these animals were rescued from terrible circumstances and are now pretty contented in their new surroundings.
At the end of the tour my daughter adopted a donkey, Bella.

We spent a very pleasant 45 minutes tasting wines guided by the winemaker of the farm. What more could you ask for? This is a farm well worth visiting- there is none of the flash and all of the original essence of a wine farm.

A last-minute decision to check out Marloth led to a brilliant hike into the Forests of Swellendam. I opted for the Waterfall route (Duiwelsbos) which takes about two hours in total. Unfortunately I ran out of time and had to turn back before reaching the waterfall. But I thoroughly enjoyed the gorgeous nature, myriad of bird and birdsong (including that of the elusive Dideric and Klaas' Cuckoo), the good weather and the relatively easy route.

We had such a lovely weekend with the Farmer RedBeard clan. We went collecting honey with Albertus and tasted it and other varieties on wonderful home made bread. Dinner was with extended family, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The following morning we picked our own peaches...MoreHallo Sara I have finally figured out how to use Trip Advisor.. The tractor trip is well worth the trip. Treat yourself to a potjiekos lunch, set in the unspoilt forest. Good old traditional South African fare cooked on the fires. Vetkoek and freshly baked bread and preserves for starters. Other than the selection of potjies there's pudding and delicious coffee - brewed on the fire:-)

A yearly visit and consistency remains. Time old traditions meet affectionate experiences. Wonderful.
It was busy today, the long weekend was in full swing, a queue formed out of no where. A first for me and fun. There’s a reason why everyone was queuing, in my opinion, they set the current benchmark for excellent unique wine, that is consistently good and new market, yet steeped in tradition.
The future of wine is here. A product that carries new traditions which intrigues me.

After previous pleasant visits I booked my family on the river cruise and picnic, telling them they won't believe the peace and solitude of the experience, topped off by the beautiful setting. The setting never changes, but the peace and solitude we expected was abruptly interrupted by loud noisy machinery adjacent to the building that went on throughout the time we were there, it literally drove us away after wanting to enjoy the rest of the afternoon after the mini-cruise. The deli selection was soooooo limited we literally had only a few items to choose from for the picnic, and at exorbitant prices. had a similar experience with the poor selection on my last visit and had emailed the place requesting they improve their food selection, but it obviously fell on deaf ears. Even had to pay for paper plates and utensils or if we didn't we'd had to share one knife between four people. Staff were not pleasant or friendly, so never again.

We has a personal reason (my partner's late husband's name) to visit this winery which is situated quite close to the rather busy R60 main road into Ashton. So not exactly the most tranquil of settings. The tasting option was interesting - a selection of six varieties with six different chocolate accompaniments, accompanied by tasting notes for each combination. Slightly surprised to find the wine we then chose to buy (actually at the top end of a very reasonably priced range) being out of stock. No sales pitch pressure though that applies to most RSA wineries in our experience.
