The last time we visited Bisceglie (some 9 years ago) the Cathedral was closed for renovation. This time we arrived just as the Cathedral was closing (for lunch what else)? but the custodian, whose name we did not get, very kindly stayed behind to give us a very personal tour of this church. As we both are volunteers in Winchester Cathedral we are interested in Romanesque churches such as San Pietro. This particular church is a few years older than Winchester but the build similarities were quite clear to us. It is a very small church but full of interest and the custodian, when he found out why we were
interested, became quite enthusiastic. Well worth a visit if you are in town, it can be found in the old quarter and could be difficult to find if you aren't sure where you are in town. We were lucky but don't try and visit over the lunch and siesta hours!

A dolmen, also known as a portal tomb, portal grave, or quoit, is a type of single-chamber megalithic tomb, usually consisting of three or more upright stones supporting a large flat horizontal capstone (table), although there are also more complex variants. Most date from the early Neolithic period (4000 to 3000 BC). Dolmens were usually covered with earth or smaller stones to form a barrow, though in many cases that covering has weathered away, leaving only the stone "skeleton" of the burial mound intact. Dolmen della Chianca, surrounded by olive trees, is unique. This Unesco world heritage site deserves a visit.

Nel borgo antico di Bisceglie, all'interno del Palazzo Vescovile e vicino alla Cattedrale romanica, custodisce mobili antichi, dipinti di scuola veneta e napoletana, suppellettili sacre, ex voto, gioielli, abiti .........in un ambiente ben ristrutturato, elegante che fa risaltare le opere anche grazie a una eccellente illuminazione.
Molto interessante e consigliato.

Vicino il Castello di Bisceglie c'è la Torre Normanna, nota come Torre Maestra, venne costruita per volere del Conte Pietro I Normanno nel 1060. I Normanni costruirono solo il primo piano sufficiente per gli scopi difensivi del tempo, ma successivamente, nel periodo svevo, con l’avvento di nuove tecniche difensive, fu necessario innalzare la torre che giunse a ventisette metri di altezza, divenendo rifugio estremo per la popolazione. I pescatori denominarono la Torre Normanna Torre Maestra perché essa, oltre a svolgere una funzione difensiva, si prestava al ruolo di guida delle navi in porto.

Довольно скромный небольшой Морской музей. Для маленького Бишелье вполне интересное место для посещения. Сходите, если повезёт увидеть открытые двери. Лично я не увидела таблички с часами работы...

il castello svevo, fu iniziato nel 1050 anno di conquiste della puglia da parte degli svevi e dei normanni, viene affiancato ad un torrione normanno preesistente. formato da pianoterra, come scuderie, e da piano superiore come dimora. restaurato di recente. oggi visibili solo alcune strutture.

L'estate scorsa sono stato con la famiglia e con amici presso questa spiaggia.
L'aspetto è bellissimo e le foto sembra di averle fatte in posti esotici.
Anche il mare non è male.
Peccato che si stia un po....stretti. C'é davvero tanta gente, del resto il posto lo merita.
Consiglio di andarci di settimana.

A Bisceglie lato verso Molfetta, la spiaggia e' formata da ciottoli grandi. Facile da arrivare, parcheggi a pagamento su strada. Si scenda dagli scalini organizzata bene come gran parte del litorale biscegliese.
La spiaggetta e molto affollata, il mare e pulito e l acqua dopo poki metri diventa subito alta. Obbligo di scarpette per gli scogli se nn ti vuoi distruggere i piedi
