I visited Dara on Saturday and chose a cornflower blue sapphire with white sapphires set in 9 carat gold, the ring was made especially for me. The MD kindly delivered the ring to my hotel last evening and my husband and I absolutely love it! Thank you to all the staff at Dara for looking after us, your advice and patience in making the perfect memory of our trip to Sri Lanka, it is a special birthday gift and 40th wedding anniversary gift. We are very grateful - good price too! We were also given a special tourmaline pendant on a silver chain free of charge which is very pretty. I would recommend a visit to Dara Gems!

The tuc-tuc ride to the gate is up some tiny little roads which is quite strange for such a notable attraction. The guided tour of the house was excellent with a very knowledgable guide who was able to describe a lot about Bevis Bawa and his life in Sri Lanka. It's great that he left his house and gardens to local people and they are doing a great job in presenting it to the public. The gardens are beautiful and this place is a lovely peaceful haven.

Because of the reef which is about 500 meters in the sea from the shore, the water is calm and ideal for swimming. Otherwise we found waters to be rough elsewhere and beyond the reef. It's right in front of the cinnamon bey hotel
