It is the principal city of the Bellefontaine, OH Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Logan County. The highest point in Ohio, Campbell Hill, is within the city limits.

We have recently returned from our January Atlantic Ocean front Marriott Ocean Pointe, and we have greatly enjoyed the Palm Beaches.
As predicted, there have been several Delta Delays and we eschewed the 45 minute connections in favor of 2-hour connection.
Our winter athletic events include Skiing, Hiking, Biking, and Tennis.
Skiing is not an inexpensive sport, and we recommend owing ski equipment rather than Ski rental.
´Tis a grand day.
Today it will be skiing at Ohio’s largest ski resort – Ski Mad River Mountain. Overnight temperatures have been in the twenties, and today the sunny skies being near 55 degree temperatures.
We enjoy the Centerville to Ski Mad River drive. This is a Rural Ohio drive. The farm fields are brown, and the farm ponds are still iced over. Not quite shorts and tee shirt weather; although, we drove by a number of young adults in shorts and tees.
Ski Mad River Mountain has received some mixed reviews, and several of the negative reviews are a result of lack of planning. Ski Mad River Mountain is an excellent ski area for families and for beginners.
Today there are no lift lines, and Ski Mad River Mountain eats up hundreds of skiers.
Yes, there are January and February weekends, which are crowded. Following decades of skiing at Ski Mad River Mountain, we have a great idea of when and how to avoid the crowds.
The staff (in all areas of Ski Mad River Mountain) are excellent and very friendly. Today we see out the Black Diamond ski areas, and few of the skiers elect the Black Diamond challenges.
We ski five – six times yearly at Ski Mad River Mountain, and we see very happy skiers today. We have fond memories of the old Ski Mad River Mountain Lodge. The Mad River Ski Lodge burned to the ground in 2015, and a grand new lodge has risen from the ashes.
The new Mad River Ski Lodge would work very well in the Rockies. There are new fireplaces, café, bar, dining, and entertainment area.
We anticipate our annual Ski Canaan Valley week.

Ohio's largest and most beautiful cavern. Tours take guests through two different parts of the cavern. The Historic Tour begins at the site of discovery and includes the part that was originally explored from 1897 to 1925. The Natural Wonder Tour takes guests on a 1 mile walk through parts discovered after 1925. It includes the largest stalactite in Ohio, The Crystal King, along with many other marvelous formations and colors. The Winter Tour is the only tour offered from October 1st through April 30th. It is a hybrid tour, showing guests highlights from both the Natural Wonder and Historic tours.

A very pleasant and enjoyable drive to get to the caves. Still fairly natural and a nice way to spend a day away from the city. The guides were very informative and friendly. They answered any and all questions asked by our group. Very knowledgeable and everyone learned a great deal. Rock formations were stunning.

Campbell Hill is not Mount McKinley in Alaska (highest in North America) or Mount Elbert in Colorado (14,431) but it is the highest point in Ohio and affects the weather patterns for the Columbus area. Surprisingly, there are no attraction or directional signs for Campbell Hill anywhere in Bellefontaine. On GPS, locate the campus of High Point Vocational School and you will find it right in the center of the campus. When the campus is open, you can drive up within a few feet of the flagpole and . bench at the USGS marker. On holidays and weekends, you can usually park at the old military base which is now a community college. A few yards east of the main gate, there is a sidewalk and a pedestrian gate. Strollers and wheelchairs can also use this gate and continue up the road past the cosmetology department and other buildings to the top of the hill. There's not a lot to see from the top that you can't see from the bottom, but it's neat to say you've been there and you can't beat the admission ( free). Kids can run or roll down the grassy slope to the north.

I'm afraid of heights, and I've zip lined before. However, for some reason, I forget about the ladder climbing (which scares the bejesus out of me), and just remember the fun part--the zipping. The guide was so kind and patient, and helped me get over my fear. A bonus (not) there was an obstacle course--bridges that move--which I didn't expect, and freaked me out. But, again the guide was super patient and helpful. He talked me through it. In the end I had a great time, and was so glad I did it!

This is one of those roadside things to see before you die. Neat piece of history - and right down the street is the world's (supposed) shortest street. Neat little stop!

We arrived at the caverns within 5 minutes of closing time, but the staff were extremely friendly and graciously ran one last tour for my wife and I. The combination of historical, geological and whimsical information provided by our excellent guide made this a satisfying experience. The cave pearls were phenomenal.

The Holland is a perfect example of the great atmospheric theaters popular in the 20's and 30's. The auditorium recreates a Dutch street scene, complete with turning windmills. If you love fantasy, architecture, or theatre palaces, do not miss it.
And, oh, yes, they have good shows there, too.

The Olde Mint Antiques is easy to find in downtown Bellefontaine, not far from the courthouse and the first concrete street (see separate listings). There are clean public restrooms and three floors of antiques and primitives. The second floor is books and records literally piled floor to ceiling, so many it was hard to get a feel for what was there. I did notice one entire section of books about the Amish (non-fiction) which would be a good read if you are going to nearby Hardin County Amish (also a separate listing) or any other Amish area in the state or region. In the basement, there is a rough room of bargain finds that need repair or restoration. If you are handy at that, head directly there. First floor has everything from funiture and grandfather clocks to tiny tea sets.
