This is our favorite little park for a picnic & digging a few clam & shucking oysters.
On a hot day there is a swim area & BBQs available for whatever you bring.
Make sure if you come for the clams you have a license licenseas you are being watched.

USS Turner Joy Museum Ship

Reviewed By Larry B - Poulsbo, Washington, United States

We took our 7 & 9 year old grandkids, along with our son and daughter-in-law. All, including my wife and I, enjoyed the self-guided tour. Any kid will enjoy getting hands on all the hundredsof dials, cranks, etc. There were also some great old salt docents aboard to answer questions. You have virtually total access to all parts of the ship, including the big deck guns. The components are well-labeled, so you don't have to guess what you're seeing. Baby Boomers will appreciate some of the history of the Viet Nam conflict explained in parts of the ship and the explanation of the part this ship played. There is lots of ladder climbing involved, so much of the shp will be inaccessible to those with limited mobility.

I have been playing paintball for many years and I have to say that the experience at Master Blaster Paintball was one of the best. They are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They make you feel important. They care about you.

There are a variety of fields to play on and it never gets boring.

We are planning to return again many times to enjoy paintball here. We have found our new paintball park.

I love most museums dedicated to our military and this was no exception. There were some great exhibits. I especially was fascinated by the baseball players in the navy exhibit. Had no idea that so many famous major league players were in the service back in the day. We were short on time and could have spent a lot more of it here.

Belfair State Park

Reviewed By KimB007 - Seattle, Washington

Personally, I have not camped here but I have walked through this beautiful campground many times since 2014.

There are spots right up on the edge of the water where you can wake up and go oyster picking or go for a dip in the hot afternoon sun.

This campground is ideal for large bus RVs, 5th wheels, campers, trailers and even tents. There is lots of room for larger units. Each space comes with picnic table and BBQ stand.

The spots at the back offer more privacy
in the trees and would be better suited for tents or smaller trailers.

Small pets allowed on leash. Clean up bags available.

There are showers in the main restrooms. One coin gives you 3 minutes and you get 4 coins for a dollar.

Garbage receptacles are everywhere. This is a very clean State campground.

You will need a Discovery Pass to get the reduced camping rate which I believe is $10-15 per night. The Ranger told me many RVers pay monthly.

Oh!!! The Discovery Pass is $30 per year. You can get one right at the ranger window when you enter.

One more thing...the shower coin dispenser is on the wall of the ranger window building.

Lots of parking. There are plenty of picnic areas on the other side of the campground. Discovery Pass also needed for the picnic area.

If you love sun and waterfront...this is the place to be!

Enjoy your stay at Belfair State Park! A photogrpher's paradise!

...until next time, my friends.

Elandan Gardens

Reviewed By allisonodenthal - Tacoma, Washington

We have driven past this place dozens of times. It comes up so quickly it's easy to miss. it looks like a dump from the road (actually was a landfill at one time) but behind the door is a spectacular gift shop followed by an amazing bonsai garden. Both the gift shop and garden are huge- they keep going and going with more fabulous things to look at. I am not a bonsai enthusiast or much of a gardener but it's fascinating to see the ages of the trees and the interesting shapes they have taken. The location is beautiful and the gardens are probably beautiful at any time of the year, but particularly nice now with the spring/summer flowers. if you are looking for a special gift for a woman the gift shop should have something! tons of gorgeous jewelry, glassware, knick knacks and pretty doo-dahs!

Mosquito Fleet Winery

My wife and I have family in the Belfair area, and three years ago we came across Mosquito Fleet Winery. We have visited their unsuspecting storefront on many occasions, and for almost a year we subscribed to their monthly shipments. Due to shipping costs and weather delays (we live in Wisconsin), we decided to cancel the shipments and pick up MFW during family visits. We always have room in our luggage for a bottle or two, and our favorites are the Meritage and Montepulciano (good luck finding it in stock :)

If you're in town and the winery is closed, I would encourage you to call their number and someone will call you back within a day. We have often travel midweek and with a phone call, we can have her favorites ready for pickup within 24 hours. Customer service goes above and beyond, and for someone who prefers microbrews I am pleasantly surprised with their offerings. Don't let the location fool you, MFW is not to be missed.

Open Air Trail Rides

Reviewed By SantaFeJoanne - Santa Fe, New Mexico

We trail ride alot when vacationing, and take a few lessons when we can at home. This was an above-and-beyond ride!! I was planning a visit to my sister over the Labor Day holiday and riding together is a very important activity for us to share when we have our rare time together. I scoured the internet and found Open Air Trail Riding. I contacted them directly, and they helped us work through a number of issues well before the ride, including my sister's concerns about a smooth horse given her recent hip replacement, and our itinerary, which they opened up for us by offering to take us out on a Friday when you are normally closed.

Any concerns I had about trying new places to trail ride..from hard-to-handles horses, head-to-tail boredom, lack of responsible safety measures, unhealthy horses, were all eased within the first 20 minutes of meeting Jamey, Jeneice and their horses. They clearly love their horses, are incredibly good with them (especially Jamey's spirited rescue mare), and they are well suited for their days of meeting new people for a bonding and spectacular day!

Starting with grooming and tacking, I could tell safety and enjoyment were key to their approach, as well as putting a sharp eye to the experience level of their riders. Once mounted, our short time in the round pen getting to know our abilities to handle our mounts also helped me start to know my fabulous little mare Gem. Seeing my sister up on Lakoda was starting to ease my mind, and my husband was clearly well suited for Sid, the gentleman's horse.

Jeneice gave me all the tips for Gem, her little habits and what to be ready for. Once underway, all I can say is WOW!!!! Once comfort levels were established they gave us the ride of a lifetime! Cantering, galloping, playing in the water, stopping for spectacular scenery, lunch, photography, wildlife, and more cantering and galloping, and - oh yeah - more cantering and galloping! For those of us starved for real riding they have the elixir!!! Always preparing us for the land ahead, things to watch out for, and providing the most amazing video from over your shoulder of each one of us at a full gallop were all part of the truly special and outstanding experience they provided. And, knowing their dog was scouting the trail for us to ensure we didn't gallop over anyone was a joy and a reassurance. The topper was being able to groom and bathe the horses after the ride and watching them roll in the grass.

Seeing the smile on my sister's face as she came galloping up on sweet Lakoda was worth a million dollars. For her. knowing she is still strong and able to ride like the wind after a hip replacement was worth another million.

I hate to spread the word about ther fantastic business and service, because my sister will not want to compete for time when she comes back! But, people like us need to know there are places to ride like this, and with their keen eyes for all the important things, thier business should flourish.

Blue Willow provides not only exceptional plants and variaties but Bill and Tracy are so knowledgable I have yet to have a question without complete and accurate responce.
Additionally this wonderful farm offers Church and Bible studies that are in home, outside (weather permitting) with songs of Praise sung and with expert guitar playing and unbelieably beautiful voice led by Pastor Bill Ketts. A small fellowship of devoted Christians in a family atmosphere meet and enjoy the farm so very much.
