Parque de las Ciencias Luis A. Ferre

Reviewed By BLSaldana - San Juan, Puerto Rico

Easy drive from San Juan, right off Carr #2. Entrance is reasonably priced and they hand you a map of the park. It is not too large, but you can easily spend the entire day, especially if you have kids. It's very educational and worth going to each exhibit, a total of eleven. We arrived shortly after 1:00 p.m. and did not have enough time to go to all of them. Of the ones we did go, we enjoyed the Planetarium, nicely air-conditioned and good Seating. Also the mini-zoo, which we spent the most time, mainly waiting for the hypo to come out of the water! The transportation museum is not air-conditioned but one does not spend much time there. For kids, it has mini golf as well as peddle boats around the small marina that encircles the playground area. Lots of trees and very clean, with bathrooms and attendants ready to assist. Highly recommend it for learning and diversion. The track up the hill is worth going to to enjoy a magnificent 360 view of the city. It's guided only on weekends, twice a day. I am sure t's when the park is the fullest so arrive early!
I recommend visitors to go with comfortable shoes, cool clothing, wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Snacks/drinks are sold there, but one can bring ones own drink so we took our own water and trail mix to munch on. By the end, we were tired and famished, but very delighted!

Museo de Arte de Bayamon

This Museum is located in the Luis Ferre Science Park. It is a beautiful building that houses some incredible pieces of Puerto Rican Art, both old and new. Everyone was very helpful and friendly.
We took the Tren Urbano to Bayamon($1.50) and the shuttle bus (no charge) to the Science Park. The entrance was close to the bus stop. There is no charge if you are only going to the art museum (donations accepted). The Science park has an entry fee.
The Museum is well worth visiting. Time would be about one hour. You could combine this with a visit to the Oller Museum and/or the local mall.

El Tropical Casino

This is a light, bright, new feeling casino next to the Hyatt Place and Plaza Del Sol in Bayamon. Parking is easy in the attached Garage, with validation available.
There are large video screens to watch the game while playing the tables or slots. Service from the dealers is hit or miss. We found one blackjack dealer to be very friendly and engaging, however moments later a roulette the dealer never even said one word for the entire time we were at the table!
I think The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan Casino has better service and offers food to players in addition to drinks, but this Casino is very nice in terms of the modern ambiance.
For those who live or are staying around Dorado this is much closer and more convenient than going the whole way to San Juan to play.

This place is awesome for nature lovers, specially animal caretakers. It shows well what people can do to help preserve endagered species. All who visit the place are reminded of human impacts to our ecosystems, and fragility of life.
Children will love it, and if lucky to be at feed times it is even better. They accept baby milk, fruits and some veggies as donations. Call to see what you can bring in.

We are used to travel to many places including outside the island and have all types of transportation services coordinated. This time, we were picked up by the Executive Solutions team. I have to say they are the best of all. We had five executive buses picked us up and take us to our destination, then back. They are very serious about the security and their job. I felt safe at all times, and had the opportunity to chat a little bit with José Poupal, the President. They are the best security and transportation service I've ever received. Five stars is just not enough for their excellence.

Museo Francisco Oller

Reviewed By JibaroTraveller - Livingston, Texas

This Museum celebrates the Art of Francisco Oller, one of the first Puerto Rican Artists. His painting of his Grandfather, done at age 14, is jaw dropping incredible. A local, self taught artist, he went to France and studied with the masters, returned to Puerto Rico and painted some of the most impressive work of the period.
The museum also houses a section of art from other early Puerto Rican Artists and another section of amazing later day and current art.
The museum is a couple block walk from the Tren Urbano Station in Bayamon. It can be reached by Train or bus. There are many places to eat in the area as well as a nice shopping mall. Work from local artists is available nearby.
