Top 10 Things to do in Bay View, Wisconsin (WI)

June 20, 2021 Rosalyn Ihle

Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is perhaps best known for its famous breweries and the Major League Brewers, but there's more to the city than beer and baseball. Milwaukee is rich in historical and cultural attractions, making it the perfect place for a weekend of exploring. Check out the newly expanded Milwaukee Art Museum or the Mitchell Park Horticultural Society, which hosts an annual show of the same flora and fauna seen in Georgia O'Keefe's paintings. Those interested in the city's history can visit the grand Pabst Mansion, former home of one of the city's famous beer barons, or the Milwaukee Public Museum, to see what life was like in Old Milwaukee. If the kids are along, don't miss the Milwaukee County Zoo or the Betty Brinn Children's Museum. Of course a trip to the "Genuine American City" would not be complete without a tour of the Miller Brewing Company and a Brewers game at Miller Park.

My favorite part about this theater is that everyone gets a huge chair with tons of legroom, with a movable tray to set your food or purse on. The rows are wide enough so that if someone needs to get by, you don't have to stand up and/or get pushed. There are also prime areas for the disabled to sit and enjoy the movie. My only complaint about the chairs are that I wish the staff would go through and oil them more regularly because there are several that I know now to avoid because they're so creaky. The place is impeccably clean, well-staffed and the popcorn really is delicious. Concession service is fast and friendly, but you can also take advantage of their wait service so you don't even have to get up during the movie. Oh, but if you do, the bathrooms are beautiful. The Bay View neighborhood is gaining popularity by the day, but I've never had a problem finding street parking. However, given the fact you can order drinks there (did I mention they have a cute little bar you can spend time in before your movie starts?), you might just want to take Uber or Lyft anyway. :)

Spent a long weekend in Milwaukee. Did several tours and tastings of distilleries and breweries. This was the best one by far. Brian, the owner led the tour. He shows great passion for his craft, and it really shows in the products he has created. He has the basics (vodka, gin, rum) which are all excellent. It's the experimental liqueurs that are out of this world. The weekend we were there, he had a coffee vodka and a chai liqueur. These are small batch products, which he says run out quickly on the weekend. We were on the first tour on a Saturday, and at least three others on our tour bought a bottle of the chai, and they only had 12 bottles available. Get there early!

This is one of the most unique breweries in Milwaukee, with some of the most creative beers on tap. Since they have grown a bit, more beers are on tap and more styles are available. Pop in, have a glass or two, and take some bottles to go. You won't regret the visit.
