Went to three other wineries in the Brandywine area and this was by far the best. Even though the price is $20 , your wine is paired with cheeses, breads, and chocolate. Well worth the price. Loved the Mahogany red wine. The cheeses are local and taste splendid.
There are 2 tasting areas, one up and one downstairs. You can also sit outdoors on the deck with a beautiful view of the vines. Bring your own food and friends, buy a bottle and enjoy your day!!

We heard about this attraction from a neighbor and decided to buy tickets on line this past Friday evening and WOW what a treat! We got a great parking space and tailgated with some specialty food and wine we purchased previously. Our spot was just next to another couple who obviously go almost every Friday "Under the Stars", so this was key to figuring out the deal. We saw over 2 hours of polo on a breezy summer night. They explain it for you as well in the event you dont know much about the sport. Then, we were treated to a concert over at the pavillion. Everyone was relaxed and enjoying themselves, including us. They did sell food there and we bought some wine, which was a tad bit pricey. We will definitely go again! Very memorable evening for us. (And yes, some ladies, including me, wore hats!)

I wouldn't be the amateur gardener I am today without the experiences over many years visiting Longwood Gardens. The place gets better—and more popular—every year, but because there is so much to see, it rarely feels overcrowded. We're season members, so we go four or more times a year.

It takes a while to get here, but you are not disappointed when you do! An old/refurbished big barn is where most of the action takes place. The folks who work here seem to enjoy where they are and what they're doing. I guess working with WINE all day is not too bad!! I've been here a few times and have also visited in Kennett Square. I have been with Paradocx almost since the two Doctors started their little winery, and it has gotten better as it has grown. The wines offered here are really good, and pretty inexpensive. We get their "Paint-buckets", too. Fun, in a glass (for adults)!!

We had a lovely time tasting at Kreutz Creek Vineyards. The owner and her tasting staff were warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about their different wines. We spent a leisurely time working our way through their tasting menu while chatting about the wines and how they're made. We bought a bottle of our favorite before realizing it was well past lunch. The owner pointed us in the direction of the sublime Twelves Grill for which we will be forever grateful.

Our family and friends have been going here for decades. The trails are well kept and it is a very large park. There is a pavilion where the Park sponsors entertainment/ music. There are rocks to climb and a couple of ponds. You can ride bikes and there are maps available online at its website..

We spent the afternoon touring Winterthur and it was a very relaxing tour. Our guide, Velda Matthias, was lovely and gave us much information on the DuPont family. This was an opportunity to see how Christmas decorations have changed over the last century.
The visitors' center has an information desk, book store, and restrooms. While you can easily walk to the actual museum, it was too cold and we took the van, which is about a 3-minute drive. We were taken to the museum to wait for our tour, and there is comfortable seating, restrooms, and lockers for convenience.
One of the specialty exhibits on loan was from the tv show The Crown. The exhibit has Queen Elizabeth's coronation gown and crown, along with the news reel of the actual event.
Our tour group consisted of 10 people, who were very polite, so everyone had an opportunity to see every exhibit.
It was too cold to get to the gift shop or even try to tour the grounds, but it still proved to be an enjoyable afternoon.

Inniscrone has had it's ups and downs. Was a exclusive private design 10 years ago. It now has a new mgmt. company doing great things with it. Play from the front tees is friendly yet challenging. An interesting shop with everything focused on mushrooms. They had towels, books, soups, figurines, etc. all about mushrooms. There was a small display on mushroom growing, but it wasn't too informative. They also sell fresh mushroom. If you're visiting Kennett Square, it's worth stopping in.

We have visited Schmidt's Christmas Tree Farm a few times now. Our 1st visit was in winter of 2010. We visited again this winter (2013). It is located just a few minutes from downtown Newark, DE in the rolling hills of Landenberg, PA.
At Schmidt's, they have pre-cut Christmas trees OR you can cut your own (handsaw provided). They have a wagon ride that takes you into the choose-and-cut tree fields IF you don't want to cut one close to the parking lot. It looks like they have a lot of nice trees & varieties to choose from. We have considered getting our tree here for the past few years, but usually decide against it due to cost. To cut your own 8ft tree at Schmidt's Farm it will cost you over $80. We go to another local tree farm instead. This year we only paid $59 for our tree, which included a visit with Santa at the tree farm, gift shop and kids playground in addition to the farm cutting down our 8ft Frasier fir tree, drilling a pin hole for our tree stand and delivering it to our own front door!! So by comparison, Schmidt's is much more expensive considering that you have to cut your own tree & strap it to your own car to take home at Schmidt's. However, Schmidt's does provide tree dollies to get your tree from the bale area to your car in the parking lot.
So, why do we go to Schmidt's IF we don't get a tree? Well, that is simple. Schmidt's has LIVE reindeer on location at their tree farm. It is FREE to visit with the reindeer in their enclosure. This year they had 3 reindeer and their enclosure was larger with new fencing. It is neat to be able to see REAL LIVE reindeer at Christmas time. Such an nice feature. Even if there were a small fee, I would visit. IF they had a donation box to help feed the reindeer, I would gladly donate. However, to date...it is simply FREE.
In addition to the reindeer, they also have a gift shop on location too. It is kind of small and rustic inside. It could use some sprucing up. It feels like a big shed with some odds & ends for sale. They have some ornaments, wax candles, wreaths, winterberry holly and genuine German nutcrackers for sale. I'm sure there was more, but this is what I remember. The nutcrackers are expensive, but they are REAL German imports. These are the real deal! Their website says they have FREE Hot Chocolate & coffee in the gift shop, but all I saw was some popcorn in the back room. Nice idea though. When we visited, Paradocx Vineyard was there at the gift shop sampling & selling their wines. So, that was interesting..one local farmer supporting another.
In addition to the tree farm, reindeer and gift shop, they have an interesting playground for the kids. It is built on a huge hill. They have plastic slides set about the hill and some huge plastic tunnels through the hill for the kids to go through. The kids looked like they were having fun. However, the grounds were kind of muddy around the playground and gift shop area. There is gravel in some areas.
Overall, we have had nice visits with Schmidt's. We have not purchased a tree here yet, so I cannot comment other than that from what I have seen....they look nice. Their prices are high by comparison to other local tree farms. However, their LIVE reindeer enclosure alone is definitely worth the visit. We will continue to visit the reindeer here for years to come. It is a nice family tradition.
Note: In addition to winter activities, Schmidt's has fall activities: corn maze, hayrides, pedal cars, corn cannon, giant slingshot, pumpkin bowling, kiddie wagon train & pumpkin patch. Also available for school tours & parties.
