Shops, restaurants, historic buildings and local museums nearby...don’t forget to take your picture in front of the giant gold miner statue! If street parking is tough, try the parking lot on the way up the hill towards the old court house building. The back street behind the ale house along the creek there is a historical marker for the first brewery in the area...a nice short walk for a break

This vast, cavernous brewery has a lot of potential, but needs to consider other types of beer besides high alcohol/high hops. Come on people, please broaden your horizons soon. No lager available? Hmmmm. Summer needs some summer beer. Get some pool tables or something too maybe?

A very local funky museum with lots of fun exhibits including what happened to the hat? (and the suspects in its disappearance) this exhibit includes some great vintage women's hats. Plus lots of mining exhibits and exhibits of regional interest. Enjoyed the museum on a rainy afternoon and its total lack of pretension.

This is a wonderful hike, and especially scenic this spring after all the rain. You can walk under the Foresthill Bridge and up to the spillway of the dam with beautiful scenery along the way. There are a few narrow spots on the trail, otherwise it is nice and wide for the most part. Beautiful hike!

This is the old county courthouse that was built during the heyday of the gold rush in and around the Auburn area. Multi-story, brick building with columns and grand entry ways were the norm back then, and they are kept in great shape for today's generation.
The whole first floor is the Placer County Museum, made up of a wide variety of maps, artifacts and photos from the late 19th century through today, with the focus on the time from 1845 - 1920.
The county keeps things in great shape and definitely make it worth the visit. It's free, but if you can spare some money for donations, it helps to keep everything looking as good as it does. They also are continually renovating small sections of the museum to keep it an enjoyable experience.

A friend and I volunteered at the Tevis Cup and drove up here (about 19 miles) from Auburn. It's a very small town with friendly people and good service. There's a beautiful bridge to drive or walk over (I believe it is the highest bridge in California, over 720 feet). Very extreme fire danger, and it was excessively hot. But you can drive through the town and right into the Tahoe National Forest for views and recreation.

We stopped here as a must do recommendation from our son. We loved it! Great beer. I like really lite or really dark. I don't enjoy the bitter hoppy tastes. This brewery has the full spectrum.
We got a flight and picked each glass. There were four of us and we shared two flights. It was perfect.
We sat outside under a covered shaded huge patio. Large enough that they had the food truck that pulled right in. We sat at a picnic table. There are many options of places to do your tasting.
I don't eat at food trucks, but the others in my party thought the pizza looked great.
A fun afternoon stop on the way home from Napa.

I had several Trails here over the weekend after many days of consecutive rain. There are multiple waterfalls in Cascades everywhere and an abundance of water flowing. It can get very crowded on the weekends, but you can still find trails that are less traveled. Get a map and wander anywhere. The Black Hole of Calcutta waterfall was so beautiful when we visited. The park is also dog friendly, which is always great!

While touring through Auburn we stopped at this small tasting room to sample their wines. And there were a lot of wines to taste. The gentleman was very informative about the wines and about the area. The grounds are very quaint and very well manicured. Enjoyed the wines but we didn't find any that really were "special". Great place to visit.

This is a beautiful area with clearly marked trails. The falls are quite impressive and there are lots of trail options.
I don't give it a 5/5 because it is quite crowded, and many people seem to think they are the most special in the world so they sit right in the waterfalls/in everyone's photo ops.
