Sydney Olympic Park

Reviewed By Dimitris L - Sydney, Australia

Sydney Olympic Park is a great sporting entertainment area, it's a whole suburb. There are several stadiums, the main one being the Olympic stadium. There are many opportunities for people to do so many different things. We went there recently and walked around just enjoying the surrounds. We have been there several times on various occasions, going into the Olympic stadium as well as into other areas. It would be nicer, however, if something was done to attract more visitors, more often! The place still seems to lack real life!

A nice wander around the Gardens and Japanese Gardens await for you treasures and features not found anywhere else in Sydney suburbia. You can have BBQs using the free stoves provided as well, and there's playground equipment for the little ones. Be sure to visit during Cherry Blossom season (around August annually) where Auburn council throws on an event.

The Bicentennial Park was built to celebrate Australia's bicentenary in 1988. It's a really nice park with lots of greenery and amenities suitable for children and families. It's a good place for people to meet as well. We have been there a few times and enjoy the visits

I've been to a few Concerts here and have a few more booked. As you'd expect, I've had different seats for each show. I don't recommend third elevation as it is simply too far from the action. Second elevation is good. I haven't yet had first elevation or the floor (I do for the upcoming shows) and I'm expecting it to be good. If you're going with the grandstand and elevated seats then I recommend getting a seat on the side of the elevated seats. That way you will be closer to the stage and get to see more than if you were directly facing the stage.
I would recommend anyone sees a show here.

Rookwood Cemetery

Reviewed By Jules0999 - Sydney

Rookwood cemetery is a really interesting place to visit at any time but particularly now when the Hidden sculpture walk is happening (until the 23rd October) There are so many interesting graves, some for the fact of who is buried within the grave, but also because of the beauty of lots of the stonework. There is a volunteer group called Friends of Rookwood who conduct regular tours and that is a worthwhile way of being shown the history of what is the largest cemetery in the southern hemisphere

Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre

Well really what isn't there to love at this place.
Great for families of all ages.
Full day of fun and always get ready for the bell to ring when the bucket is about to tip.
The cafe hasn't the fastest service reaally quite slow but food is good. We always pack a lunch to take with us as plenty of tables outside to sit on and eat.
Make sure u get your parking ticket validated on entry to the pool because first 4hrs of parking is free at the pool parking only sorry not sure the car parking number.
Really great value, small entry fee. The whirl pool is a lot of fun, fast so any kids that are not strong swimmers recommend they go in with an adult.
Was hard to get the kids out of the pool when it was time to go. Always enjoy this place and will return in the future.

Smallish ground. Facilities are OK, but suffered a bit under load between innings. "Ushers" were friendly and efficient.
Atmosphere was good. Main screen is excellent for a ground this size.
Security staff were discreet. Maybe a little too lenient on the group of drunk muppets nearby as they continued their drunken rants even after 3 of their number were evicted.

Bike Hire at Sydney Olympic Park

Bike Hire at Sydney Olympic Park offers an amazing experience riding around the home of the 2000 Olympic Games. With over 35kms of cycling tracks there is so much to see- wetlands, homebush bay, parklands, stadiums and plenty of birdlife.

Reviewed By akuswara - Sydney, Australia

I must have forgotten how much I love riding a bike! Went there with wife and friends. Some were not a keen nor expert bike rider, so we decided to hire out a couple of single bikes (mountain or comfort bike you can choose), and two tandem bikes. We swap around and took turn to ride the various bikes while our less-keen friends :D can tag along and enjoy the ride.. they occasionally scream in fear of .. must be something not sure what.
If you are not familiar with the neighborhood, they provided the bike track map, with easy trail, up-hill, down-hill, dirt-track, paved track, heaps of fun to try. short-loop, long-loop. all there!
And if you start the bike a good hour or so before the sunset, you can stop at some of the scenic places to take beautiful photos of the mangrove, the water features around the Olympic Park. We took the longest loop, VERY tiring, I didn't think I can make it, but we DID!
There are also BBQ area near by, we had our BBQ first by the lake before our bike adventure. SUPERB.
Take the 1 hr rent if you want to go easy on yourself, or take the 2 hour to reach the furthest loop. We headed north from the Bike Hire shop, around the playground, into the mangrove, take left at the ship wreck lookout, enter the dirt road, make a north track towards the hills, and came out at the water feature just next to the Allphone Stadium, then easy cruise down the road to the train station and cross the Quad Cafe and back into the Bicentennial park. Lovely.
Water Fountain available at the public places, not throughout the track, so you want to prepare a good 600ml of water for each person, and refill to full in every opportunity.
They also have baby chair for some bike, but you probably don't want to do the long loop if you are carrying a baby.

Reading Cinemas

Reviewed By HappySnappyGirls - Cremorne Point, Australia

We LOVE Reading Cinemas at Rhodes......mostly because it is great value. Tix are $10 for all, including new release movies. It's never full so you always have a good choice of seats. Very rarely do you have noisy kids. We did have one bad day with noisy kids and we ended up leaving early and the staff were so accommodating. Gave us a full refund no questions asked. They were very apologetic.
Seats are comfy. It's accessible if you are in a chair or use a stick/frame. There's plenty of space between rows so you aren't trying to squeeze past people.
Food /snacks are reasonably priced and good quality. Great quality choc tops are especially good. Ive never had a problem taking in my own food or drinks (unlike Event Cinemas).
Gold class is $28 and ok. I'm not a huge fan of gold class anywhere as the food is usually pretty average quality/value. Reading is similar to Event in this respect. You're much better off just paying $10.
It doesn't have the same ambience as Cremorne or Roseville but it is excellent value for money. Movies are mainstream. Not the same variety as Dendy or Palace.
Parking is relatively easy (park near Target for less walking). Plenty of disabled parking. Get your parking ticket validated at the cinema for 4 hours free parking. Although if you have a mobility parking permit the centre will give you free unlimited parking which is much appreciated.
