Atibaia (or Estância de Atibaia) is a Brazilian municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The name is derived from an indigenous language called Tupi, and means "healthy water river". Its name has changed over time, from the primitive Tupi word Tybaia, to Thibaia, Atubaia, Thibaya, and finally the city's modern name, Atibaia.

I went there many times. I suggest you go there by a road at the back of the mountain, it´s easier and faster. You may wanna go by trekking but it´s very hard and tiresome. Anyway it´s not dangerous. On top of it you´ll find some people and some of them jumping by paraglide. It´s a breathtaking view, completely worthwhile. It´s around 1000 meters above sea level, you won´t hear noisies and there are no facilities also. Be aware not to go in rainy days, because lightning are frequent there and are fatal!

Lugar lindo!!!
Espaço bem grande.
Entrada e estacionamento gratuito.
Indico ir durante a semana para caminhar e aproveitar melhor o silêncio, paz e natureza.
Mas, de final de semana, existe um roteiro do romeiro, que consiste em missa, terços...
Porém, é lotado.
A igrejinha original é uma graça. Lindinha!
A outra é um espaço enooooorne. Muito bonito também.
Caminhar sem pressa ouvindo os pássaros e vendo o jardim maravilhoso e florido, é algo necessário para sair da rotina, do estresse..
Possui restaurante e casa de retiro.

The Natural History Museum is so perfect! I can go there just to spend a couple of hours, or to spend longer time! Used to take my son, when he was only 2yo, and he loved! Had a membership for 2 years and it was always on my "to do" list with the kids, or even solo, for a great afternoon! Love it!!!

The city's oldest church , a beautiful architecture, and full of stories. Is in the central area of easy access and close to the main tourist sites of the city .

People travel from everywhere for this beautiful annual event in Atibaia. There's yummy, cheap food & drinks, vendors, gorgeous flower displays, and a lovely lake to walk around as well. Great event!!

O observatório é localizado em um sítio astronômico próximo da cidade de Atibaia com acesso pela rodovia Fernão Dias. Interessante em meio a bela natureza do local.
