Old Town

Reviewed By Dun123 - Fareham, United Kingdom

We visited Antibes on a day trip from Nice which proved a very enjoyable day. First to get there from Nice is straightforward, a 27 minute train journey at €9 return, the only issue was the limited trains due to strikes. The old town is about a 10 minute walk but from the train station but it's worth popping into the nearby tourism office first where friendly staff have a selection of free maps. My advice is just explore the old town and soak up the atmosphere, although it has a harbour full of multi million pound yachts, the town has retained a lovely traditional feel with the bonus of reasonably priced cafes and restaurants. Recommended.

Musee Picasso

Situated within an old castle, this museum has a collection of works spanning Picasso's career.

Awesome location in the old heart of Antibes. The view is magnificent, so is the building itself. For a very low price of €8,- you can enter the small museum to visit some of the great pieces of Picasso himself. Vases, paintings and other work are there to find. If you want to enjoy for 1/1,5 hour of art, you must visit..

The open market is full of delicious flavors. It closes early and you should see it in the morning. Some vendors will offer tastings of their products - yummy. A very enjoyable stroll and full of wonderful foods. You will see a seafood market next to the open market — it is just across the small street. There is an excellent small restaurant called Mer/sea, next to the fish market! The seafood comes from the market and the oysters are exceptional!!

Fort Carre

Reviewed By starduster32 - Plantation, United States

Overlooking the yacht harbour of Port Vauban is the old star fort, Fort Carre. You can wander around the limited lower floors for free or for a nominal fee a guide will take you on a tour of the ramparts and deliver a potted history of the pot and it's occupants through the years. A worthwhile visit as the views not only of the port but across the sparkling Mediterranean all the way to the snow covered Alps is spectacular. A short trek to get there and some gentle exercise climbing to the top of the massive walls. Recommended.

Juan les Pins Main Beach

After the hussle and bussell of Nice beach, JLP beach is such a welcome sight. It’s got such a chilled vibe with the gentle lapping of the bright blue sea on the fine golden sand.. it’s beautiful. Very clean but does get crowded especially at the weekend. It’s shallow for paddling in and crystal clear. You can have a massage too.
