Amorgos (Greek: Αμοργός, pronounced [amorˈɣos]) is the easternmost island of the Cyclades island group, and the nearest island to the neighboring Dodecanese island group in Greece. Along with several neighboring islets, the largest of which is Nikouria Island, it comprises the municipality of Amorgos, which has a land area of 126.346 square kilometres (48.782 square miles), and a population of 1,973 (2011 census).

Was a great excursion for us the famous monastery was like in the movie the Big Blue , the monks there offer a kind of Amorgos wine and one sweet . And the place is just fantastic . You can go there without thinking .

Amorgos Botanical Park, a small botanic garden in the heart of Katapola, deticated to the special flora of Amorgos island and the Cyclades. In the garden is located an outdoor cafe that serves herbal drinks and snacks with organic local products, the herbal lab where products with local herbs are produced and several events take place (music concerts, theatricals, yoga lessons etc.), for more info follow our facebook/instagram or webpage. *ABP is a private project created by Amorgos Collaboration S.C.E., it is open from May to October, the entrance is free and the viability of the project relies on the commercial uses.

The warm welcome, the idyllic atmosphere, the excellent service, the music and of course the cocktails: Manos and his partner both created a magical place! Occasionally they have an open-air cinema with a golden collection of movies from the past. And don't forget to buy some herbal-mix/tea for at home!

On the north side of Aegiali Bay are three small beaches, which are connected with each other by the official footpath No4. It is a beautiful walk, which can be started in Aegiali port. From there one walks along the long Gialos Beach for about 20 minutes until its end, called Fokiotripa (Seal's Cave, but no seals there anymore). Here one goes up a path, just to branch off to the left soon after. With wind and big waves the last part of Gialos beach has to be done barefoot or one risks to have wet shoes. In that case it is preferable to go along the parallel tarred road. The first beach one gets to is Levrossos. Above it is a parking lot, but to reach the beach one has to go down several stairs in a built up area, with a tavern, apartments and the Petradi Beach Bar, which rents out some umbrellas and sunbeds, but not by the beach directly, which is not organized. For shade there are a few tamarisk trees. Levrossos Beach is sandy throughout and it can get crowded. Further west come Psili Ammos Beach and Chochlakas Beach, which are completely undeveloped and offer almost no shade. Although a few will swim naked already at Levrossos, nudist usually prefer the other two beaches, where they are the majority. Psili Ammos has some sand on its eastern side, mostly pebbles to the west, while Chochlakas has a not always easy access into the water due to rocky ground. In season there is a water taxi service to the first two beaches. When there last September a strong northern wind came up (Beaufort 8) with all ships staying in the harbour. Swimming was impossible at the beaches of Gialos, Psili Ammos and Chochlakas, but if one didn't go too far out one could swim at Levrossos, which is the most protected of them all. It would be different though with a southern wind.

Fab beach reached by foot or water taxi for 2 euros, sun beds, great little cafe bar with very friendly staff, very clean during covid 19
