Brown's Berry Patch

Reviewed By Mike71553 - Sharon, Massachusetts, United States

Browns is one of those places that you can not pass up when travelling. Try to pass there in the morning before the crowds arrive for picking apples etc. They have a good selection of local produce and other goods. Their Apple Cider is particularly good and they have Apple Cider Donuts that are scrumptious , and a large selection of pies
The Donuts are $6.49 for a pkg of 8 and the Cider is $3.99 for half gallon I also bought a loaf bread which they have about a dozen varieties ranging from Pumpkin bread to Blueberry bread to Cranberry nut bread etc. They are all price about $6.99 The staff is excellent and ample. There is a sampling area if you want to try something first and a gift shop with clothing and lots of brick-a-brack. Enjoy your trip through Amish country and stop at Browns

Medina Railroad Museum

Incredible would be the word that I would use to describe this museum. There are an abundance of railroad memorabilia from watches, signs scales, punches, conductor hats, photographs and of course a variety of electric train sets.

The main exhibit is a huge train layout in the center of the exhibit room which is the envy of any man or boy that ever owned a train set.

All in all, a walk through of this museum is an educational tour during a period when railroads ruled the transportation and economic center of America.

They have pick your own strawberries and blueberries. We had a great experience of picking our own strawberries. They have delicious but kind of pricey baked goods and other items. If you can afford the price of the baked goods,I would recommend you to try them all. They are really delicious. They are very nice and friendly people.

Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum

Reviewed By mdkadk - Potsdam, New York

We had been down this way in 2002 and this light didn't exist. It had been destroyed but a group of smart folks had it rebuilt to standards of the original in 2010, and then made a nice museum out of it! It sits on the waterfront in a park area at the mouth of Oak Orchard harbor and creek, and is charming. Get some theme gifts in the gifts shop and learn a bit about the local history.
Excellent educational stop.

My 9 yr old granddaugther and I and my wife went there based on my granddaugthers recommendation because she was there ealrier this summer with her day care class. SHE LOVED it and wanted to return. She remembered so much of what she was tougoht by the Tour Gude that the Tour Guide said she can be her assistant. There was a church, house and school to see from around the 1800's. Also a shoe/saddle shop, wood working shop, barn with a lot of old farm equipement plus a couple of outhouses (one with a 3 seater). The youngsters were allowed to touch, feel, etc. It was wonderful and if you go by to fast you will miss the place. It's on Route 104 near Lake Ontario west of Rochester NY. It's part of the community there and wonderful to see. Tours only about $4 per person or so...forgot exactly but well worth it....she was great talking with us. The structures exemplify architecture with glaciated stone. A must see although I went by it a 1,000 times in my life and never even saw it as a great attraction but it really is.

We "tent camped" @ this beautiful spot on Lake Ontario just a couple days ago on one of their "prime sites" i.e. cost a little more because we were on the lake view spot. I was absolutely marvelous/beautiful/very quiet. We were the only campers with a tent & actually cooked over the fire pit :-O Every one else was in a "towed" camper w/electricity! That would have been real nice as the last night we were there came rain & high winds-ugh :-< But we survived & will definitely go back; have been advised to make reservations several months in advance!

I believe this is the only meadery in WNY, or one of a very few and it is part of the Niagara Wine Trail. This is a good place to visit when you are in Medina or if you are just looking to taste some mead if you have never had it before. All of the samples I had were good, but not spectacular. If you like bloody mary's, then this is the place for you! The have an amazing bloody mary made with ghost peppers so it is very hot. Be warned that it really is hot but soo delicious! They also have other cocktails on their menu if you want to try something different.

Kirby's Farm Market

Driving back to Rochester on our way from Orleans County and found this on the south side of 104. Picked up some homegrown tomatoes and white potatoes, both reasonably priced. Also had homegrown rhubarb and asparagus as this is the growing season for those items. They had cookies, desserts, apples, and a lot of greenhouses and plants for sale in the spring season. Very pleasant staff.

Don't let the trail map fool you...only 7 miles from Becker farms. Some of the best wines on the Niagara wine trail. Curtious and fun servers behind the bar. Very experienced wine maker too! They are open until 6 p.m. every day...don't believe the 4 o'clock closing.
