Christlum

Reviewed By Jen F - Wallasey, United Kingdom

This is not a massive resort but that has its benefits - very quiet, no queues, all rubs finish in one spot so safe to make plans to meet kids. Not many blue runs so absolute beginners might struggle. If you are a massive skier it's not for you - if like me you have 2 beginner/intermediate kids and you need to meet them from ski school so can't be too far away this worked really well. Unpretentious and a lot of fun.

Gaisalm

Reviewed By Paul M - Purley, Surrey

We walked from Pertisau to Achenkirch, stopping for a drink in the hut at Gaisalm. The walk is well worth doing, but requires reasonable fitness and, at times, a head for heights. The Alm is pretty much what you would expect - a self service cafe with quite pricey food and drinks. It is in a great location and is a nice place to stop before continuing the walk to Achenkirch.

Achensee

We did! My wife and our dog...it is 28 km walk around the lake.
We started in Pertisau and did the circle. The village itself is nice and quiet. Than you have walk for ca 7 km ups and downs with lovely view on lake and surroundings. There are some huts on the way, but don't expect anything special. But we want to enjoy the nature!
Many attractions around - cycling, kitesurfing, yachting, running, train for kids. Really lovely day.
Take good shoes and water with you and have a great day!

Wolfsklamm Gorge

Reviewed By yogarobin - Delft, The Netherlands

The gorge has many waterfall and is a pleasant relief from the heat of summer. There are steps, but that does not mean that it is an easy walk. I wore sandals and regretted my decision because there is some rocky and slippery terrain inside and many places in the trail are quite wet. Parking is 4 euros for a day ticket (payable at the machine in the lot) and entry is 4.50 per adult. It is about 45 minutes in each direction with time for admiring and/or photographing the falls. We went in late afternoon after most of the crowds had left (no one was in the ticket booth after 16.00) and had many areas all to ourselves. I could imagine that earlier in the day the crowds might make the trip take a bit longer.

Wallbergbahn

Reviewed By Angel A

Went again last weekend with the whole family to Wallberg and took the cable car to the top. The weather was excellent and the view amazing as always. On the top one has many options for trekking, climbing, jumping with paraglide or just sitting in the Panorama restaurant and enjoying the Mountains on a beer. With small kids you can also just walk down to the next hut with a beer garden and relax for an hour or so. The Tegernsee beer is really tasty
If you decide to go down to the parking place it will take you around 2 and 2,5 hours and is doable even with kids lets say from the age of 4 -4,5.
In winter you can also take a sledge and enjoy one of the longest natural slides in Germany.
I would recommend the place to everyone - is accessible for every age and great fun for kids and adults.

Schloss Tratzberg

Reviewed By Sue149 - London, United Kingdom

This is ideal for wet and dry weather and for any visitors. The rooms are incredibly important in terms of early 16th century furniture, panelling, paintings, objects, decor and decorative items. There is also an armory. Excellent commentary via English audio guide. Really good value for money as well. There are walks in the grounds as well and a restaurant which was well patronised.
Free car parking and a "train" to transport those less able to walk from the car park to the Schloss.

Rattenberg - Medieval pedestrian zone

Rattenberg is a small attractive 'village' to spend a few hours. The one main street has plenty of Coffee shops and Restaurants as well as the inevitable souvenir shops, good quality items as well as Glassware shops. Walking behind the main street,we found more quaint Restaurants, and a Church which was very interesting.

Very clean facility. Informative - son translated so we could understand. A cooperative of numerous farmers in the area and all organic and regularly tested. Cheeses and yogurts were all delicious and we made purchases in the gift shop which we enjoyed later. Beautiful countryside. It's all quite new and very hi-tech. Family with adult grandchildren. At least 12 other businesses in various categories are members of this group of small businesses and they promote each other in their gift shops.

Vitalberg - Steinol Museum

Reviewed By Katka J - Kutna Hora, Czech Republic

This is a small museum describing how is mineral oil made from the stones ( something like "oilstones" ) - the exhibition is small, detailed, without human guide, it is fully electronic. There is of course a shop offering products with this oil and caffeteria ( in my opinion the best espresso in Pertisau )...
