Top 10 Things to do Good for Kids in Port of Spain, Trinidad

July 1, 2021 Layne Dawes

Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, has the tall buildings, neon lights and crowded streets of many cities, but also a multicultural Caribbean character and a homegrown calypso soundtrack. The best-known occasion is the flamboyant pre-Lenten Carnival. Among the city's other offerings are cricket and football matches, year-round festivals, a botanic garden, malls, an art and history museum and historic buildings. Entertainment options abound, but be cautious after dark.

Fort George

Reviewed By SteveRainville99 - Orlando, United States

Even though the winding tiny narrow road up and down the mountain is one of the most dangerous roads in Trinidad, once up there, it is totally worth it! It only took 10 minutes from the bottom to the top, and the grounds are well kept and preserved. The cannons are still there over looking the city. The house is beautiful, and the tiny prison that was only used to keep important documents and not prisoners was pretty cool!

The Queen’s Park Savannah is always full of energy with something always happening. The vendors sell the best food and you can get the freshest coconuts around the Savannah. You can get a great workout by walking or jogging around the biggest roundabout in the world and do some sightseeing all at once, since some of Trinidad’s magnificent seven buildings, including castles are located around the Savannah.

Within recent years the zoo has improved dramatically, in addition to gaining new attractions the facilities are constantly being improved. Alot of maps placed on walk paths ensure, you know where you are, lots of seating and clean bathrooms are some of the fantastic amenities. The animals are well tended and the enclosures are cleaned frequently. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and willing to share their knowledge about their animals. It is a lovely zoo that is really always trying to improve. Always worth a visit!
