Kosi River

Reviewed By ArunSharma - New Delhi, India

There is very little to do in Corbett National Park besides the regulation safaris into the jungle. Kosi river is a good, less frequently visited site, specially near the suspension bridge. One can click pictures of this old style bridge and trek down to the riverside for more pictures on the stones along the river bed. The view is picturesque.

Naukuchiatal Lake

Reviewed By RishiD196 - New Delhi, India

Located at 4 km from Bhimtal, and 26 km from Nainital, the deepest of all the lakes in the Nainital region, Naukuchital is serene and picturesque lake, which offers numerous water sports if one has an appetite for adventure. Comparing to Bhimtal/Nainital, the lake is smaller and less crowded. One can witness/feel soothing sound of water, fresh air, clear sky and view of lake & hills plus people enjoying boating on colorful boats/Shikaras. Beware of monkeys; they can snatch your belongings in a wink. There is an adjacent lake viz. “Kamal Tal”, having lotus flowers. Only a passage separates both lakes. One can enjoy few snacks at small outlets available. An Outlet/Restaurant namely “Yellow Dolphin” is recommended. Overall, worth a visit.

Pangot and Kilbury Bird Sanctuary

Reviewed By Toppopankaj - Gurugram (Gurgaon), India

Had visited this Bird.sanctuary in March 2018. It's a must visit for any bird lover. Infact Pangot is such a small place, even in the present day that it's does not even have a barber shop in the village. Having said that it has atleast 20 hotels where you can choose to stay. It's a pretty offbeat location. Cellphone connectivity is an issue there, there are no fuel stations. The village has only two grocery shops, if I remember correctly. In short if you are going to Pangot for a birding trip, pack properly. If you forget anything you will not be able to buy a second one at Pangot. The most important thing however, which you should not forget at any cost, is to get your fuel tank filled either at Nainital or at Kaladunghi. And if you are going to Pangot for birding (why else will you go to Pangot? It's famous only for birds) ensure that you book your guide, in advance. Without a proper guide you will be lost in the jungles around Pangot. Lastly while birding is at the heart of Pangot, don't forget you can amazing views of the entire Himalayan range from a point before Cheer Point, from where you can get good landscape shots. And when going for birding carry a super telephoto lens (minimum 400mm) else you will be left wanting for extra reach. Remember birds in this part of the world are small. So they move very fast. Hence click at a high shutterspeed and be very alert. What all this remoteness of the place means that you can still see birds in the pristine forests around Pangot. Also no matter which season you are going, carry warm clothes. Pangot can get really cold. It receives snow in winters. So happy birding.

Mukteshwar Inspection Bungalow

Reviewed By Toppopankaj - Gurugram (Gurgaon), India

To be frank I have lost count of how many times I have been to Mukteshwar post 2000. The last time I visited this lovely place was in November 2018. While there are many place worth visiting in Mukteshwar but inspection bungalow and the little open patch of land infront of it is truly the jewel in the crown. It is the best place to watch the sunrise and sunset in the midst of the mighty peaks of the Himalayas. Infact you can spend the whole day in the lawns of the inspection bungalow. Now the interesting part. Did you know that Jim Corbett, stayed in this bungalow when he had come to Mukteshwar to shoot the Champawat man eating tigress. Further parts of the old bollywood movie Masoom was shot in these very lawns. A part of the song "tujhse naarz nahin zindagi" was shot here. Lastly a few kilometres before the inspection bungalow, at Sargakeht, you can view the Annapurna group of peaks in Nepal from Mukteshwar. Yes you heard it right you can views peaks of Nepal from Mukteshwar.

This is a must-visit place and one should explore nearby also as there are Gurudwara and Tibetan Market full of local shops containing reasonable commodities.
