A gorgeous walk. While not stroller friendly, it is well marked in Czech, Polish, and English. While not free it is very reasonable (cost about as much as a couple of soft drinks). The trail is cobble stone initially, then changes to gravel. In then areas that are eco protected in is raised wooden structured. The entire walk is very relaxing BEAUTIFUL view of nature. You have the option of climbing 300 steps to a birds-eye view on top of the mountain. The view is awesome but not for the faint of heart.

What an amazing place! The rock formations are incredible, you feel so small next to the giant rocks. Took us about 4h to complete the trail, the map was enough, no need for a guide.

Prachov Rocks

Reviewed By smilgaki - London, United Kingdom

Spent an amazing 3 hours here after hiking to the rock park from Jicin. Entrance fee per adult was 80 kc. You can choose from a number of routes, some easier than others. We picked a more difficult one, which involved some steps and narrow rock crevices (perhaps not so good if you suffer from claustrophobia) but was extremely rewarding. The sandstone rock formations are truly something to be seen - the pictures don't quite do it justice. It's a very atmospheric place (though it was fairly busy) and you might want to bring in a picnic to enjoy the place. They actually sell dried fruit and pick & mix at the park entrance, which is actually a really good idea for some of the steep climbs. Good shoes also recommended - it is very slippery in places. There are cafes just outside the park for hot and cold food and snacks. The car park was quite small and was full by noon. A really magical place!

Wonderful fairy-tale castle, placed in an amazing part of the Czech republic, filled with history. I was impressed by the gardens and the statues of little men and women in the whole ground. It turned out they represent features of the human character, so it can take hours of fun to understand who represents which. I will go back some day to check if I can recognize them all.

Highest point in Czech Republic. A relatively easy climb, a couple of routes from Pec. cable cars if your not up to the climb or decent. Didnt have much of a view from the top as very cloudy but did get a glimpse of Poland from the top :) Was very quiet the whole climb and the summit was busier. The main restarant was closed, Maybe due to C19, I really dont know but the post office was open and they also serve hot dogs and drinks as well as been able to send a postcard from the highest point in CZ :)

Safari Park Dvur Kralove

Projížďka večerním safari následovaná africkou večeří a noclehem v luxusních stanech či afrických bungalovech hned vedle žiraf, pakoňů a zeber - to je to pravé dobrodružství! Safari Park je otevřen každý den v roce a zejména v zimě oceníte velké tropické pavilony Ptačí a Vodní svět nebo pavilony pro šimpanze, okapi, šelmy či slony a další zvířata africké savany.

This combined zoo and safari park offers an African themed on site hotel. As a guest, you can visit the zoo and park up to ten o’clock at night. And it certainly enhances a visit to the zoo – being able to visit some of the more nocturnal animals as they get more active as the sun sets. Staying on site is thoroughly recommended and makes an excellent treat for families as children are well-catered for. The hotel, restaurants and zoo and park facilities have all been recently refurbished. Throughout the park, there are many play areas for kids and, near the Safari Park entrance, there is a fantastic adventure playground over several levels involving all kinds of rope walkways and climbing frames. It is well-designed and completely safe for all children over 4 or 5. The hotel, with its wood based décor, boasts an African theme to reflect the fauna focus of the zoo and park. There are a variety of accommodation types available. The room I stayed in with my family was based in a complex next to the reception area and was accessed via an external area surrounding a small, seasonal swimming pool. It involved a very short walk outside and up a spiral staircase. Due to the design of the building, it was an interesting shape and offered two rooms plus generous and well-equipped shower room. The hotel itself has an excellent restaurant whose menu includes a couple of vegetarian and vegan alternatives. There is also a state-of-the-art bowling alley for the grown-ups in the evening. With over 2,300 animals, the vast majority from Africa, there is a lot to see so an overnight stay, which includes zoo entry over two days, is a good idea. I have been to many excellent zoos around the world, but seldom can I remember a place where you can get so close, safely to so many animals. Particularly impressive are the chimpanzees and the gorilla next door, the multiple rhinos (the zoo is a world-leader in breeding rhinos in captivity and returning them to the wild) and the free roaming lions. Located a two hour drive east and slightly north of Prague, it is thoroughly recommended. A version of this review appears on undercoverofthewrite.com
